The true people benifiting from high AH prices are the ones selling gold.

Since Horde needs to turn mass numbers of them in as part of the Ahn'Qiraj opening event, Blizzard replaced them with Striped Yellowtails on the vendors, so that we would fish them ourselves.

As if a huge money sink wouldn't help the server economies.

The problem is, it wouldn't be a money sink if you could buy them. Remember, every time you turn in a stack, you get 7 commendations AND an Ahn'Qiraj war supplies chest. The level of items you get for turning in these fish can sell to a vendor for more than the 72 silver it would cost to buy a stack. If you sold them in the AH, you could make a lot more.

As much as I would love to take advantage of that, this would be a very bad thing for the game. It's good that you can't buy these any more.

Either people are fishing them up and giving them straight to the quest guys, or they are selling them in the AH, in which case, it is still a money-sink :)

No worries guy, people are paying 3-5g or more for runecloth stacks and 10-12g+ for thorium stacks (which is more than double normal on my server) so yes, this ploy is still removing a ton of money from the economy.

When someone buys out Runecloth off the AH, that money does *not* leave the economy. The War Effort is in no-way a money. If anything it's creating wealth, because people are farming more, and getting green items from the turn-ins. Some of those greens are getting vendored.

Giving money to another player != removing that money from the economy. It's just moving it around.
