almost 1000 fish in ogri and stil no old crafty
i did get 3 x 16 pound catfish also nice for a screenshot but not for the achiefment:(

Wrathgate strategy no longer works for alliance. You can cast your line but cant actually catch anything whist in phased Orgimmar.

I have now gotten my fishing to 300 and gotten my 1000 fish achievement...still no Old Crafty. I think he hates me....

I was on my 35 BE paladin, trying to work up fishing and cooking in Orgrimmar and I caught him. I thought, "Cool," and went on fishing. Seven casts later (no kidding) I caught him again. I must just be insanely lucky.

15th cast , got it, did it during the phased org event after the wrathgate chain, thats the best bet imo i just got ultra lucky, did it near the priest trainers in org by the hall of champions

For alliance players who want to try catching him here's a few tips.

First of all if you can get to the valley of honor in org where the horde fishing trainer is and fish there, nice horde players will often leave you alone if all you're doing is fishing. When I first tried catching him I often had horde players come and stand next to me fishing with me after a quick wave. For a high enough level player you can ride straight through the city and the guards will stop chasing you by the time you get there. Of course there's always a few horde players who don't mind getting a cheap honour kill even where there's really nothing honourable about it by ganking someone who's not there to fight (yes there are alliance players like that too - I always leave the horde players who are fishing in IF). So if you're worried about those types, there is a waterfall among some rocks to the left as you enter that area where you can fish mostly concealed.
Now if you really want to make it easy and you're questing in northrend there is an even easier way. If you are doing the wrathgate questline in dragonblight there is a part of the quest line where you go to Org to talk to thrall. The thing is it's a phased version of the city. It really is org but you can't see players there and any players there can't see you. That means you can fish there as long as you want without worrying about horde players attacking you and yes, you can catch old crafty during that time.
Took me about 300 catches to get him over 2 visits - first visit normal and second visit during wrathgate questline when I caught him.

I was stuck at the Las Vegas airport for 9+ hours so I hopped on the free wireless and fished from lvl 1-225, caught this guy at skill 214 in Org then accidently fed to my pet.

first post :P this thing is v sexy beats all off hand fish and ya can get it at lvl 1 xD didnt even know about it,jus thought id lvl fishing in oggy and i got it
