Strange comments here. PVP oriented guilds? Do you think any PVP oriented guild kills the twins? It's not like you walk in and just do it. You need to be dedicated to PVE and raiding for a long time to even get this far. The fight is limited to 15min so you need high enough dps. It is 15min of high damage so your healers mana regen needs to be up for it and your tanks well geared. Think most of you commenting here wont even see these.
I'm a priest and I say this kind of stuff belongs to dps classes. My guild does allow priests to bid on dmg&heal stuff but most decide to let dps get them first. If you spend dkp on stuff like this all the time you are slowing guild progress. You need healing and manaregen, dps needs these. We had one priest that bid on all +dmg stuff. He was holy as everyone in our guild is forced to be. He raided for a long time but his gear was crap. He had high dps but low healing and bad manaregen/spirit. Total sh*t for our raids, not to mention he took some nice gear needed by casters. Finally he went shadow and left the guild. Nice! If you try justfiy you need these for raiding as a healer then you are really retarded. It has low healing bonus and totally lacks spirit and manaregen. Sucks big time.
Now we have AQ40 on farm and killing bosses in Naxx. Everyone has good gear and Naxx has some incredable stuff to offer. So priests can bid on stuff like this because no one else really needs them. They are minor upgrades at best. They have better or equal or wait for tier 3. Mages and locks have their class sets full with dmg stuff, added with set bonuses. Stuff like this is excellent for priests to use in BG. Look at frostfire and plagueheart. Who would even want these over them? Priest love to get stuff like that, druids can get feral gear etc. Stick with your guild helping it and finally you will start to get stuff like this.
We had these drop this week the first time. I think me and another priest were only ones to bid. I have been healing for my guild over a year and I deserve to get some dps gear as I want to do some pvp once in a while too. I have allmost 450dmg&heal. It's really fun in BG to get smite crits of 2000(with power infusion and trinket). Priceless to two shot a noob and still beeing able to heal and that bonus applies to heals too which makes it really nice for pvp. It also has loads of the important pvp stats, stamina and int.
If you are shadow then you should really go for +shadow damage stuff as you get higher bonus but a holy/disc priest does nothing with that like mentioned. You don't use MB much as it is on 8sec cooldown without talents, does not benefit from holy talents like smite. It totally sucks. SW:pain is not good enough reason to get shadow stuff either. A holy priest(if specced for it) has much higher dps than a shadowpriest, mainly because his damage scales with gear much better and his main spell, smite can crit(+10% with talents) while mind flay doesn't. The thing that makes shadowpriest good is other stuff. Silence, 15% physical damage reduction, Vampyric embrace and slowing effect of mind flay. But if they have a pure nuke war, the shadowpriest gets totally facemelted by the holy smiter.
Sure you can get high dmg with blues, but you will gimp your stamina and int too much making your gear crap for pvp and don't come talking about pvp sets, you won't get high rank if you are in a hardcore raiding guild. Getting high rep with WSG or AB takes ages too when you raid 6 times a week.
Best boots for a Warlock , next to plagueheart . Doomcallers suck , less Damage and you really don't need the resistence decrease , curse of elements/shadow is more than enough.
the Enigma boots available off the boss before Twin Emps are better for a mage. Ditto Doomcaller's for a warlock. 6 pts less damage on them but 1% to hit and 10% resist debuff respectivly - both are waaaaay better than 6 damage. Arguably the Enigma are slightly worse from a PvP perspective (Doomcallers are clearly better).
These boots are for the 'odd spec' priests / shamans etc. who's sets tend to be healing oriented.
Priests do one thing, HEAL and thats it. The only time they want to do damage is grinding or PVP, at which time they can switch to simply JUST shadow+ gear.
Well, so an endgame priest's endgame situation:
*login* *stand around in orgrimmar for some hours* (optional) *walk a 4m deep trench between AH and mail box* (optional) *get invited* *heal* *logoff* Exciting, right?
After 1 Year doing nothing else than healing I got tired of it. So you better do with a well equipped 1year-experience priest that has fun playing, because he got some "Outdoor Survival Gear", than with a well equipped 1year-experience priest leaving the raid/guild/game because of weariness. (healthbars are really not exciting, if you don't believe me, watch this picture for 1-5 hours and imagine the bars are slightly moving ;) http://mitglied.lycos.de/sarunir/wow/tm1.jpg )
Well... I chose to play my priest for exactly one year now because I like healing. But nevertheless as a priest you are a caster as well ;)
To the shadow gear argument. Shadow sucks hard in PvE (because you have to spend talent points for being just a bit efficient) ;) You also better go with a well equpped 1year-experience priest specced with 51points in disc/holy (mages always go jumping around when getting my power infusion)than with a 51points shadowtree specced solopriest.
...since priestpatch 1.10 I've cast 2 Mind Blast spells (really, I counted them) and these were because I got counterspelled by the mage. As a not shadowspecced priest you got an 8sec cooldown on your ONLY offensive shadowdamage Spell (Mind Blast --> skillable to 5,5sec with 15 talent points, a second skill is available at 11 points inside the shadowtree) except the dot (Shadow Word: Pain). (sure you don't know because you obviously don't play a priest) When you cast Mind Blast, you got 8sec time in which you can't do anything else than cast Smite (of course no shadow spell and so only affected by +dmg/healing. Optionally you can cast Mind Flay 2 times, which is the 11points shadow talent mentioned before) and now stfu with "go with shadow gear" ;)

Right. Average mage has 7000 mana which is about 28 Frostbolts if they have zero mana regen. 28 Frostbolts x 34 increase to spelldamage x .95... 904.4 more damage simply from standing there lobbing off uncrit. frostbolts; at 3 seconds each, this is almost an 11 dps boost to mages. And you want to @#%^ing grind.
Any guild that let's priests win some top notch dps gear from AQ over mages/locks is retarded. Can't they settle with mc/bwl dps stuff after mages/locks get their hands on aq stuff? Well, if you are in a guild that seriously farms whole AQ, you propably wouldnt get 'em over mage/warlock. Propably you are just one more nub saying that you MC guild would give them to you ye, too bad you are still in MC and will always be stuck there if you don't sort out loots in a smart way.
My guild lets anyone with DKP points bid on what they want. If you don't have points for these as a mage/lock, then: 1. you didn't show up for enough raids. or 2. you already got a lot of great gears. In either case, spend your DKP points or STFU and QQ.
I get fed up with healers saying, oh we get more use because you cant make use of the healing on it..
The + to healing and damage is blizzards way of saying to all schools of magic and nothing else.
+ to all schools is twice as expensive stats wise as single ones.
Priests end game heal, 99% of the time thats ALL they do so the+ damage is totally wasted, especially as a priest can 99% of the time get an item with just + heal on it with significantly more healing power.
Saying that a mage or lock wont ever use the + healing and therefore its wasted on us is just utter rubbish.
Warlocks use both Fire and Shadow damage all the time, so single schools are not comparable in the least to a lock.
Mages also use all their schools of magic in all instances, sure one school generally takes precedence, but all schools are used.
Priests do one thing, HEAL and thats it. The only time they want to do damage is grinding or PVP, at which time they can switch to simply JUST shadow+ gear.
Any healer thinking they should have same priorety as a DPS caster on something like this is a fool.
They require spell damage to boost their Smites and Holy Fires. 1.10 is on the test realms as I type this and it's insane, 2k unresistable Smite crits
Depends on your guild. If you're a PvE guild, healers don't come even close to these. PvP oriented usually lets people roll freely. In the end, if you don't like who it's given, switch guilds
I'm in a pve oriented guild but I'm still able to bid on these. the reasoning behind is that warlocks/mages trying to claim every single damage and healing item in the game is just really greedy. there's nothing "more pve" about handing out 5 different pair of shoes/bracers etc to them.
as an affli warlock, i think +shadowdmg is almost equal to +spelldmg.
of course, spelldamge is better, but u will find far more shadowdmg on some items. i.e. there are just no gloves out there with 46 spelldmg or even firedmg.
the 2 main spells that i use in instances are corruption and shadowbolt. the only spells that really benefit from +spelldmg are my AoEs, becuz i dont use immolate very often.
mind u, im an affliction lock, firelocks might have a different point o view on this issue :)
As a Destro Lock, you definitely aren't stuck with just Fire spells. You can whip out a CoS, Shadowbolt, and Shadowburn if you find your target is too high on FR. But that's what CoE is for. Basically if you're running out of shards, we slightly lean more to Shadow spells (Soul Fire is our main nuke, which consumes a shard). Therefore, +spll dmg is overall better for us, not just +fire, and definitely not +shadow.
Notice: Difference between "Damage and healing done spells and effects" Versus "Healing done by spells and effects." Damage is much more valuable and higher-level as it applies to all magic classes and all damage dealt in comparison to support alone as it applies to Druids, Paladins, Shamans, and Priests.
