man i love these threads, this bow is great for hunters, and great for rogues/warriors, any normal guild will give it to hunters first so there is no point arguing on this thread
the reason i love these threads is because it gives hunters a taste of what they do to all other classes, i mean, check out threads on thottbot about fang of the faceless, the arguments hunters use for this is exactly the arguments rogues use for that.
This is one of the best bows in the game pre-naxx (Chroms crossbow is the only weapon to beat it before then) in the game. People complain about hunters being greedy - however.. it seems that every other class in the game is a loot whore but. Most of the "better" hunters in "end game" pass on items for other classes and get them when all others have them (Melee weaps for stats for example).
That said, I've yet to be in a guild that is in end game that hasn't used some sort of priority system for loot. I highly suspect a lot of people posting here have never seen inside of ZG let alone further.
This is a significant upgrade from rhok if used right. If you want to flame me or don't understand why, that's fine. I suggest you look up shot cycles. Any hunter with rhok should get this if they don't have Chroms crossbow yet, period.
well if its meant for hunters explain the benefit of those 5 strength points then
while it may be better than other ranged weps since normalization anyone whos part of a guild with any sense of pride will give it to who it benefits most so for this item id say tanks rogues and dps warriors have strikers mark assuming they want the 1% hit only 2 ranged weps in the game with it
and to defend hunters soulstring id say you guys have priority on
Honestly if melee classes are looking for a stats buffer, anything above Blastershot Launcher that drops from Golemagg is just going to waste. That weapon has all the stats melee guys need to be more effective. I really do understand that it has strength on it as well but the way hunter shot cycle mechanics are, only the Ashrejthul can beat this thing if you aren't raiding Naxx yet.
I just got this weapon yesterday and only got a chance to test it out in pvp but I can say that it truly rocks hard for a hunter. A grand marshal mage attacked me and I 3-shotted him in a couple of seconds.
You got lucky then. That grand marshal mage should have been able to take you out without a problem, regardless of your weapon. Doesn't matter if he was fire or frost, Mages rarely fall in duels. If they are even beginning to die they just sheep you, bandage, and rock you with a high dmg spell.
There's one flaw in the whole "there's a better weapon for XX class in yy instance or from ZZ quest so go get that instead & give this to the hunter / tank / rogue" argument.
Simply put, and this applies to all class-oriented items not just bows, if the player of said class - hunter in this case - doesn't have better right then, then HANDS OFF other classes, & wait your turn to get it ok?
Sure, hunters can get Rhok & this is a very nice bow for rogues / warriors for the stats, but we're talking about a bow that drops in a 20 man instance. And we're talking about the main source of dps of a class into the bargain. We're not talking about 2 different items that drop in two different 40 man raids that you *might* be lucky enough to get. Oh, and once you have them, you then have to go solo a couple of elite demons before you actually see your hunter epic weapon. So the hunter should pass on this upgrade to their main means of doing damage in a raid, merely becuase they might at some point be able to get something else from a different place? Hunters must just meekly pass on what could be a significant upgrade to their damage output just so that another class can have a nice boost to their stats?
Blizzard don't need to nerf hunters - the WoW commuinity does a pretty good job of it for them.
I say screw that whole "main source of DPS so don't take it over a hunter" crap, mainly because I have seen hunter's bid DKP for EVERYTHING under the sun, save for cloth items.
I've seen a Hunter bid on and win a Vis'Kag over a rogue. NO beneficials for that hunter whatsoever. I've seen a Hunter win a Chromatically Tempered Sword over a rogue before; where it's hands down going to be put to more use by a rogue than a hunter. ETC.
Everything in this damn game is 'hunter loot,' and then the Hunters want rogues and warriors to stay away from their good ranged? Not a chance in hell. It's not us being greedy, it's our being sick and f'ing tired of the same old crap from Hunters, the real 'greedy' players of WoW. Just because you CAN use it, doesn't mean you should take it over someone who is going to use it to its FULL EXTENT. So yes, until I see hunters declining items to people they should rightfully go to; then I am going to take every chance I can at getting good ranged weapons for my rogue, ones like this.

(May have posted this twice, forgive me is that is the case)
I have to say, if a raid leader lets some hunter acctually get the items (which you bring up like some kind of worldwide example of how greedy every single hunter in WoW is) over a rogue in this case, I'd start looking for another guild instead of trashing every hunter in the game and only ending up looking even more greedy in the process.
How is your mindset any different from some idiot hunter bidding on whatever item you're after too that really has not benefit for him in comparison like Vis'Kag or CTS? Because you're plagued with moronic raid leaders that acctually lets said hunter get the items, you go on a crusade to get all the ranged stuff "just because you CAN use it"? How is that doing any good?
Learn to see the difference between a greedy class and idiots that are a part of that class and incompetent raid leaders.
I guess we could bring up Ancient Bone Bow and Mandokir's Sting but that's just fanning the flames. If said hunter is not doing BWL like you seem to be doing, this is about as good as it gets. So in that case, you'd be the greedy one, not the hunter. If you're both in BWL, then they should pass since you're bound to have Domo on farm, and if no it's up to the raid leaders saying "Sorry, you get the bow instead, this one goes to <Player X>". At least that's how we do it, and it's working fine.
And yes, I am a hunter, and I'm sick of ass-hat rogues calling us greedy all the time based on some idiot outrolling them in Scholo for the bow or something.
If your guild has killed Ossi, you've probably killed domo and ony, as this guy is a bit hard.. The DPS on this simply sucks for hunters - There's alot better for rogues or warriors, but this is a start.
Sweet ranged weapon for those with or without Auto Shot. Now use your heads and add up what i just, said :O Yes, it is true, i said it is good for those who wants it and is willing to pay dkp/roll highest for it ;)
If your guild has Domo and Ony on farm then Rogues and Warriors (let them fight for it).
If you guild does not have Domo and Ony on farm (or not doing MC for that matter) it's Hunter (best pre-40 man ranged weapon imo) and if all Hunters have it then what I said before applies.
Yepp... this is a hunter item. Look at the damage, insane. rogues/warriors dont need the damage, and if u think its a warrior/hunter item only because of the +5 str...

lol.....not just the 5 Str, its also for the .35%crit 1% hit and 50 health....yeah its good for hunters. But if all the hunters in the raid have it. It is definitely a rogue/warrior item.

Uh, if you dont realize how important 1% hit is for a rogue or fury warrior, you should not be talking. Also, as you know strength/agility/stamina are the best stats for rogue/war so to say this is a "hunter only wep" is dumb. Also, in high-end raids there are numerous occasions where rogues used ranged dps instead of melee, and of course numerous occasions where high dmg bow hits are important in pvp. I agree this is a nice hunter weapon, but imo hunters have many options besides this, and not everyone has a epic item quest like you guys do.
I want this for my fury warrior. Badly.

As you can see from the calculations, this crossbow is better than the MC quest bow. So Warriors.. hands off
