I only really use these when I'm going for "max armor" -- oh and the +healing is ok, I guess.

I went to a restaurant and I saw a guy wearing a leather jacket, eating a hamburger, drinking a glass of milk. I said, "Dude, you are a cow. The metamorphosis is complete. Don't fall asleep or I will tip you over."

This amazing item drops of Bloodlord Mandokir. Mandokir is the third boss located in the Zul Gurrub Instance. He is not one of Hakkars high priests and does not have to be killed to kill fight Hakkar. He is located just past that of Venoxis, and up a large series of stairs.
The guide for killing him, and claiming your phat lewt can be found here:

Why do so many druids feel they have to go bear form to deal with that mob their heals aggroed?

Catform > cower ftw

It's only a single target, yes... but it's an aggro reducer and it's effective.

catform/cower still takes more damage for the couple of hits the enemy is going to get off on you in the time it takes to get the cower off. Plus why go catform/cower just to shift him off of you to another healer? (because in most cases that's what you just did) Why not just bear up, tank him, let the other healers shift heals to you, and pray the fight ends fast enough? Finally, if your tank is good enough and you aren't irresponsible, there should be almost no way a major enemy is going to aggro to you, even if you are throwing out your major heals on your MT, but if that happened, then yes, catform/cower would be the best move.

I can't speak for other druids but I've tried both catform/cower and bear form when I do manage to pull aggro.

In my experience, catform/cower = dead kitty far, far more often than bearform = dead bear.

Since the frenzied regeneration option was added to bear abilities this is even more true.. the tank may need to work harder at regaining aggro but at least I've survived the encounter to go back to healing once the tank has taken the mob back. The reason the tank gets aggro back with catform/cower is normally because I'm dead.

When I do any significant changes to my gear, I tend to retest this and I've yet to come up with a combination that would make me lean towards the catform/cower method. It is simply not anywhere near as effective as the priest fade ability at reducing aggro.

It could be that my bear form is sturdier than yours (while tempted by some cloth stats, I've yet to be tempted enough to give up leather for cloth) or that my heals generated more aggro but the catform/cower method just isn't effective enough for me to trust my life and the lives of my raiding companions to it.
good stuff

the high armor on the ZG druid pieces is set up to help us out in bear form. We dont have a fade ability so we have to rely on using bear form when gettin bombarded untill tanks can get aggro back. its also nice for feral bear in general. frenzied regen with + healing ftw. popping into caster form for a quick heal can be dangerous.

Are you sure this is a leather item? The next highest AC for leather pants is 170...this is 240, probably enough to be a mail item.

It clearly states it is a leather item next to the "Legs" part but on the right side of it, if you didn't notice.

Yes, it is a leather piece.
Don't have a screen shot handy.

But same as posted above, the druid had Cenarion and they are better, so I took these for healbot MC runs.
Great pants

Just got this item as a shaman... Both our druids had epic leggings, so no need.
This is a very good pair of pants for healing shamans.
And yes, it is leather.
