Every comment here is about how they got it from drops and I am surprised to not find any link to the quest itself.

LOL, having done this Quest ages ago, about the time when they changed that u can get the bow and the staff together, I remember the 1st sinew i got was from those blue dragons in winterspring, while doing the Ony Q's killing the dragons. Then another dropped while i was helping another friend, and this morning I was checking for thorium and then it dropped again. So im either extremly lucky or Im just fated to get this item.

farmed 4 hours with my shadow priest on Dentarg got a schematic for 300 eng arcanite dragonling or so... got greens greys got Demonslayer too and after 4 hours the sinew dropped and i gave it to a friend

I'm not sure how much they go for on my server (yesra) but after looking at how much they go for on other servers I feel pretty lucky. Bought it tonight off a guy in IF begging someone to buy it from him for 100g. from the way he was selling other stuff I'm fairly certain he was a farmer. In any case now I have to make the decision whether to go sell it (still need epic mount) or keep it. Although my guild wont be doing mc runs for about a month, so I could always go back and try to farm it later.

Whenever I read about people saying "oh yeh i got this uber rare drop on first kill lol!" I always call the bullsh*t card. Untill today.
A level 56 mage and myself (Level 60 shadow priest) were going to hand in the part of the Onyxia quest chain where you have to speak to Haleh in the cave and we saw a group of Alliance grinding the mobs, we helped them clear part of the cave and "ninja-tagged" (Their words...)a freshly spawned Cobolt Scalebane, low and behold it drops, on the first mob me and the mage killed, the first mob I had killed in the area since I put my old warlock into retirement. Currently accepting bids on it of over 300gold, wish me luck. =D

I just had this drop for me aswell. been killing them for 3 hours.
Just tagged this mob before the horde hunter did and it dropped for me.
While i was farming there i found 2 robe of wintersnight patterns.
So i also have that on my mage now :D

Damn i'm so happy.

This worked out better then farming for the crusader enchant :P that cost me over 1.5 month to get it.

do u get this from skinning the dragons or just a regular loot?

Mine dropped after 3 weeks and over 3,000 dragons.

Don't go in thinking this will be easy.

Me and a guildpal was grinding these in winterspring. After like 2 hours we were about to give up and the sinew drops. Since we both needed the sinew we both agreed to needroll. He won and i was alitle pissed. When we were clearing out of the cave...BOOM another one droped. that was pretty amazing. We both got our quivers!

In my opinion, if you are just farming in order to sell this for a profit, you are much better off farming for the Crusader formula, chances are it will sell for more, plus it has a 0.18% chance to drop rather than a 0.09% chance to drop. I have farmed 5 of them. Kept one, split earnings on two of them, and got all the profit from the other 2, about 450g each thats 1350g plus i have the enchant... good game. Still takes a long time to farm though, no doubt

gave it to a hunter in my guild

I went ahead and farmed this because, well, I do love me some purple. That and grinding AV rep held no appeal to me. Anyway, long story short it was on the 774th kill that I get my drop (right before an MC run, a good day all around). Anyway, I thought I'd help with some of the math behind the likelihood of this dropping to keep people's spirt up.

Note: This technique will work for any drop. I post here because this thread (and the disparity between farming for 3 minutes vs. 3 months) confused me somewhat.

The chance that this thing will drop is about 0.1% , which is to say 1/1000 (0.001). This means the the chance of it NOT dropping is 100% - 99.9% (0.999).

From statistcs we know that if you have two consecutive events you can find the likelihood of both events happening by multiplying the chance for each individual event together. Thus the likelihood of NOT getting the sinew after killing two dragons is (0.999)*(0.999)=0.998. In other words after two dragons you're not very likely to have picked it up.

We can generalize this to the likliehood of recieving the item after N dragons: (0.999)*(0.999)*...*(0.999)=(0.999)^N. Now let's pick a reasonable likelihood to shoot for, like 50%. So the number of dragons you need to kill for your likelihood of NOT getting your sinew to equal your chance of getting your sinew will be the value of N that satisfies: 0.5=(0.999)^N. Employing logarithms we can solve for N and we find our answer to be 693 dragons. So it took me a little longer than I expected to get it, but not to far off.

Now one should note that this doesn't mean that when you kill 693 dragons that you have a 50/50 chance of it dropping, it only means that after 693 dragons the likelihood of your NOT having recieved your sinew is equal to the likelihood of your having recieved your sinew.

Hope this helps someone out there optimize their time and lower frustrations.

so we're doing the ONY attunement quest right. I tell my guildies, lol imma pull this one. We had it on Free-For-All for no reason. I solo it and it drops. i'm a 60 hunter too so it was like ownage. Running MC tommorow to get other ones and get the bow =]

so i come home from college, feeling like crap, i think, ive got nothing better to do than play wow!! (lol..)

so i logged on, and someone asked for help with the WS demon, i said summon, i did, he killed it, and then i just thought, meh, HS is on CD so ill grind (had a mage in group make me some water and food...)

the long and tedious grind went on from 3 uk time to 11 !!! but then i looted a level 57 blue elite caster dragon and got my sinew!!! now the proud owner of my ancient sinew wrapped lamina!!! yay :D

gonna grind it again tomorrow, make some serious cash!!! :D

I wanted to farm this for my alt hunter since lately I have nothin to farm, so this seemed like a good choice. Farmed for about 2 days, 3-4 hour farm sessions both days. Got a bunch of vendor trash, 1 robe pattern (which I have no use for and vendored), and an arcane protection pot recipe.

So this morning I decide to go there and farm for another few hours but low and behold, drops off the first Cobalt Mageweaver I see =D

I'm happy as hell right now.

Farmed with a mate just in general and it dropped..

Gave it to a guild mate who needed it only farmed about 2 hours at most

I got this today on my paladin, took me about 40 mins for it to drop, I only had the idea to farm it, was because of a guild member offered to trade it for libram of protection (worth 400g).
So as soon as he comes online i'll get it.
I put it in the bank at the moment, and gone to farm another one, for another guildie, he offered 250g for it =), i'm in the money business.

Just got mine off the Gadgetzan Auction House for 90g!

Someone in my guild (role-playing server mind you) said:
"Must've been a tauren, those bovines wouldn't know a good sell if it was branded on their hide!"
