There was a small kerfuffle a while ago in my raid community where a warlock bid on this and some bratty mage got upset complaining that his Kezan's Taint is better. I personally prefer the Choker (yes, mainly becuase it's epic) but then again let the DKP decide. Considering Lucifron is the first boss in MC and nearing TBC any PuG to MC to take this loser down (and his two b**ches) meaning that the necklace is obtainable to those not in a raiding community.

Someone posted earlier why do healers always bid on this Necklace. Well my god let them have it. Only MC necklace worth getting is Choker of the Fire Lord from Ragnaros. Hell I would rather spend some time and money and get the Orb of the Darkmoon. It has no intel but +5 more damage. Ossirian in AQ20 has a nice necklace obtained from his head. I guess what i'm saying is save dkp and let the loser healers fight over this trash. Speaking from a caster DPS point of view though:).

Personally, I can't find a better healing necklace at the point where I'm at. Of course, I'd love Jin'do's Evil Eye, but the chances are slim for me to get that one. Luci is easier fo my guild then Jin'do.

Lady Maye's Pendant/Jeweled Amulet of cainwyn
would only give me +135/120 (+10hp/-10hp) mana compared to this item.. and thats not even enough for an extra frostbolt... while choker adds up to 18 dmg on every spell.. thats like ~700dmg each manapool (if firing only frostbolts) Imho it's just as good as the other 2 necks..

Pff....when this got nerfed sux....10 int 10 spir 10 increase isnt that much for a MC drop...even low lvl/quest necks are better....The princess theradras' neck (Gemshard heart) for mage or the medallion obtained from the defense of darrowshire quest are much much better....

Current plans for changing the Choker of Enlightenment, with the next patch should change it to:
+9 Stamina
+10 Intellect
+10 Spirit
Passive: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 18.
Now, this isn't set in stone, only what's currently planned on the Test Server... after the patch, we'll see, but if that's the case, then this will be a great item again. Not the best, but certainly one of the better caster neck items in the game.

is that -25% of the mana needed to cast the spell? or is it -25 mane points? beacuse my spells on an avrage cost me 150-300 mana per cast. now -25% would be awsome..

Actually, Lucifron isn't really even a Boss. He's the first named you encounter, however. He's only a 63 Elite. Magmadar is the first real 'Boss'.
