Only reason to pass up on this is if you have the Cap of the Scarlet Savant, and even then, you should pick this up for Netherwind set bonus'.

Anyway, I feel lucky to have picked mine up considering the droprate some guilds have experianced.

Cap of the Scarlet Savant isn't comparable to Netherwind Crown in any way, it is FAR inferior. Keep in mind that the +2 spellcrit translates to at MOST +30 damage (and that's even giving a lot for Elemental Mastery in 1.11 etc). For a fire mage even Eye of Flame (a lvl 45 epic) is better than the Cap of the Scarlet Idiot... The ONLY reason any caster should want to get COTSS is for pure PVP (decent stamina).
NW crown is by far the best pre-BWL/AQ mage head you can get.

Agree, defenatly crit bonus is nothing compare to damage for mages, therfore only better then netherwind crown is pass MC/ONYXIA for example "Mish'undare, Circlet of the Mind Flayer", which drops from Nefarion, and has 30 spell damage and 2% chance to crit by spells.....

I want this thing real bad but I'm really dissapointed that it has the same damage on it as a crimson fel hat (1 pt lower actually), and you're going from a blue to a tier2 upgrade.

All the sets will look at sick as the Bloodfang set when Blizzard gets around to it. Just look at some of the finished sets. Might, Lawbringer, Bloodfang, etc. They all look badass. Like I said...when Blizzard gets around to it...

I don't know about anyone else but I really hate the idea of "crowns". They just look ugly to me, especially the huge part that sticks up in the back. Personally I think mages look the coolest with those wizards hats (ie Mistscape hat, Dreadmage hat). I just think they look so much cooler than the crowns and jeweled headband things.

Just my 2 cents
