Star Citizen will actually be produced in two parts, Squadron 42 and Star Citizen.
Squadron 42 will be an updated version of Wing Commander (also made by Chris Roberts). This will be a single-player story-driven campaign game that will allow friends to join you as your wing-mates. This should serve to train you in the controls and system before you get kicked out of the nest into the big, bad universe.
Squadron 42 is a legendary volunteer unit assigned to the UEES Paul Steed (CV 023) of the 2nd Fleet of the United Empire of Earth Navy. The player will spend time in warzones and rise through the ranks, eventually earning UEE Citizenship.
Star Citizen is the MMO Sandbox, allowing commerce, piracy, team play and Ship-to-Ship PvP.
Star Citizen is using the CryEngine 3 game engine, by CryTek. CryEngine 2 is the engine used by Aion.
There will probably never be a complete wiki for this game, here, as the develpers are creating their own, called Galactapedia.
MSCVP100.dll Missing! - IF you see this msg on Launch, you need to install the Microsoft C++ 2010 Libraries for x86 (32-bit) and, if you are on a 64-bit OS, the x64 version as well. Ref: this article on the SC Official Support Forum. The 9/6/2013 patch made changes to the installer so that these files will be installed, as needed, for Win 7 & 8 at time of installation.
