''All party members must move up to the platform, any still on the walkway will be locked out of the battle when the boss is engaged. A ready check is recommended prior to start if members are not all the way up.

Calyx the Ancient has two three abilities that must be dealt with:

1) Shortly after the start of the fight, three lasers will divide the platform up equally. The lasers will periodically turn and then pause. All party members should spread out prior to the lasers being activated in such a fashion that the tank is in the center of the platform and the rest of the party forming a triangle around him (ranged DPS specs are preferred for this battle, if possible). It is okay if two people stack are together. When the lasers come, this will, by default, separate the members into three different sections. The lasers, when moving, will turn clockwise. If any member is caught in a laser beam, they will suffer medium damage and be slowed; the member should then try to run through the laser (counter-clockwise) to the other side in order to mitigate the damage (if they run clockwise with the laser, they will likely not escape it and die).

2) Throughout the battle, Calyx will target random members and summon a GTAOE at their feet. This is white in color and swirls like a hurricane. Any member caught in the AOE needs to move immediately or suffer large ticks of damage. For ranged players, it is advisable to position yourself far away from Calyx so when the AOE comes you can move forward out of it and not leave an AOE next to the tank and/or melee members. For those melee range of the boss, you will have to move out of the AOE, but the tank should not move so drastically the boss relocates to the outside perimeter; as soon as the AOE disappears, drag the boss back to the center.

3) Periodically, Calyx will bring all members to extremely low health, thus the healer must be ready to perform massive AOE healing. A Bard is nice to help deal with this ability, however a Chloromancer might even be better (personal experience). It is because of this ability that all members must avoid damage from the previous two abilities mentioned above or they might find themselves dead after their HP is reduced by this means. The main healer should not freak out here, and concentrate on keeping the tank alive while the off healer should focus on the rest of party members. Only when the tank is at a safe margin of health should the main healer toss some heals to the others.

As with many bosses, Calyx will toss out some other minor spells, but they are only a nuisance, damage-wise. Dealing with the three main abilities above successfully is all you need truly worry about.''
