Runes of Magic Special Offers

Runes of Magic has some special deals on some of its micropayment items at the moment. Ten items have been reduced in price by 30%, for a limited time only. These offers include two of the game's permanent mounts, so if you want to take advantage of the offer, head over to Runes of Magic's website before the end of Friday 8th May. A full list of the items included in the offer can be found after the jump.

Plant System is Coming to Runes of Magic

Frogster has announced a plant system will be implemented in Runes of Magic in an upcoming update. The system is currently running on the test server, but has not been deployed on the live servers yet.

Players will be able to choose from a range of different pots to place in their houses. Seeds can be obtained from slain foes or the item shop. As one might expect, the quality of the seeds will affect how much you obtain from each plant once it is fully grown. If the plants are watered regularly and taken care of, players can expect to harvest them in 3-7 days. If you neglect them, they could shrivel and die.

According to the press release, rewards from planting include "special runes, which adventurers can use to upgrade their character's equipment, right up to ores, wood and new plants. Given the right kind of seeds, the harvest can even be rare 'blue' crafting material." More information can be found after the jump.

Runes of Magic Gets Second New Dungeon

The team at Runes of Magic seem to be going content-crazy at the moment, with a high-level dungeon called Treasure Trove being added in today's patch. The dungeon can be accessed through the Ravenfell zone, which was implemented earlier this month. Also included in the patch are changes to various skills, pieces of equipment, enemies and the games's interface.

The full patch notes can be found on the official Runes of Magic forums.

Public Encounters System Implemented

If you're the type of player who likes jumping into the middle of a big battle at any time, you may want to check out the new public encounters feature in Runes of Magic. Frogster announced today that players will be able to join together to fight back wave after wave of enemies under this new system.

In the first scenario, players must protect Sergarth Outpost from three waves of attackers. The enemies get more powerful over the first two phases, and the commander comes out onto the field for 10 minutes in the third phase. If the players can defeat him, he'll drop some rewards. Whether the commander is defeated or not, the battle will respawn so players can continue the fight. You can enter or leave the battle at any time.

More public encounters are in development and will be added to the game, including one that may allow players to face the Demon Lord. Keep reading below for the full press release.

New Items for the Weekend

New items are available in the Item Shop this weekend, including the long-awaited Custom Title!

See the full announcement after the jump!

Spring Rain Festival Begins Today in Taborea

Starting today, Runes of Magic players can participate in the Spring Rain Festival, which contains numerous quests with a wide range of rewards. The event is a symbol of the Earth's rebirth and is held in honor of a traveler named Castor who supplied a hungry village with a rainbow egg. The seeds of the egg produced beautiful trees that brought the village's misery to an end.

During the festival, rabbit-like "wabbits" will hop around Taborea holding presents for players. You have to complete quests to get these rewards, which include wabbit pet or a drink to turn players into rabbits themselves.

For more information, visit the game's official Web site or read the full press release after the jump.

Taborean Easter Bunny Hides Eggs in RoM Contest

The Taborean Easter Bunny is here and he's hidden colorful rune eggs on the official Runes of Magic site and other participating sites. Each site has a different number of red, green and blue eggs to find, and you have until April 19 to search for as many as you can.

Each winner will receive an in-game pet, such as a frog, goblin, Little Death or Little Giant, as well as in-game chocolate and egg rice dumplings.

More information can be found on the official Runes of Magic site here, which is where you can also report the rune eggs you find.

Runes of Magic Gets New Zone, New Dungeon

A new high-level zone has been added to Runes of Magic, in the form of Ravenfell. This zone is intended for characters of levels 45-50 and brings the number of quests available in the game to over 1,600. However, this isn't the only new content available in the patch as it also includes the Ruins of the Ice Dwarf Kingdom - an instance for level 35-40 characters.

Also included in the patch are some new "Elite" skills and the Windrunner Races we reported on last week. The full patch notes can be seen on Runes of Magic's official forums.
