Win 100,000 Turbine Points for LOTRO and/or DDO

Would you like to win 100,000 Turbine Points? If you play either Lord of the Rings Online or Dungeons & Dragons Online, I'm sure the answer is yes. Turbine is currently hosting a separate contest for each game, so you can enter to win the massive amount of points for both LOTRO and DDO.

So how do you enter? All you need to do is register for a free LOTRO and/or DDO account by Dec. 31 to become entered in the contest. That's it! If you already play either game, you can still enter by visiting the LOTRO contest page or the DDO contest page.

One player for each game will earn the top prize of 100,000 Turbine Points, but the other prizes are also impressive. Two second place winners will get lifetime subscriptions to either game, and five third place winners will get 1,000 Turbine Points. Good luck!

Dungeons & Dragons Online Preview Release Notes

Dungeons & Dragons Online's Update 8 is on Lamannia test server and the preview release notes are now available. With the new update, players can look forward to lots of new content and many new items.

A new adventure pack, Siege of Stormreach, will continue the saga of the siege on Lordsmarch palace. Players will get to defend against waves of attackers to help protect a city ward, go on a covert mission to stop a Droaam navy blockade, beat back a surprise attack beneath the city, and more.

Also, new cosmetic armor kits are coming to the DDO Store. These cosmetic kits attach to existing armor sets so you don’t lose the benefits of your real armor.

The DDO Store will also be offering Cookie Jars, a new storage device. These jars can hold on to surplus Festivult items including cookies, jellycakes, and cupcakes.

Update 8 is also bringing a new line of Hirelings, the Rogues. Rouge Hirelings can help you find and disarm traps, offer excellent damage with their sneak attacks, and can be commanded to stealth through dangerous place.

Head on over to the official DDO site for the full patch notes.

Well, how about two new races, the powerful Half-orc and the ultra customizable Half-elf, in addition to a new and free adventure pack (Deception in Stormreach), a new premium raid (The Chronoscope), and a huge pile of new UI fixes and changes, including a new auction house and inventory sort system! If you're not able to play DDO right now, then at least you can get a more in-depth look at this upcoming content with ZAM's exclusive in-game tour with Turbine in DDO's Update 7!

Touring with Turbine: DDO's Update 7!

Whenever I think of what makes an MMORPG "great," it's easy to pick out the obvious categories: unique content, sharp graphics, fun game play, the list can go on and on. Surprisingly, however, if you were to really consider what keeps players in their favorite MMORPG (and, if found lacking, can also be one of the major reasons why players quit in droves), a lot of the time it can be something as simple as having frequent content updates. Take, for example, Turbine's Dungeons & Dragons Online and the huge success they have had over the past year. While many would attribute this to DDO's free-to-play shift, I'm certain that at least part of its growth can be attributed to the fact that this reborn MMORPG has received a startling six content updates since last year.

DDO Auction House Temporarily Closed

In preparation for the upcoming launch of Update 7, the Auction House in Dungeons & Dragons Online will be temporarily closed starting today, Oct. 15. The Auction House will return with new improvements, such as keyword searchable auctions, once the update is live.

Turbine has confirmed that any existing auctions that are completed or expire after Oct. 15 will still be delivered via the mail system. Are you looking forward to Update 7?
