Battle Notes

To begin this battle, you must first talk to Jakaka at (G-10) in Attohwa Chasm. She will give you a Flaxen Pouch. Climb up the mountain called Parradamo Tor. Once you have reached the top, trade the pouch to the "Cradle of Rebirth". You should receive a pouch of Parradamo Stones.

Go back to Jakaka and trade her the Parradamo Stones. She will give you a key item: Miasma Filter. Head to Boneyard Gully. The Miasma Filter will allow you to enter one of four ENM battles. You can only do one of these battles every 5 Earth days. Choose the battle Like the Wind.

You will fight the Race Runner, an NM Eft. You must defeat it within 15 minutes and up to 18 people are allowed into the battlefield. Any more then 3 people in the group and the experience points rewarded will be reduced.

duo'd this mnk + blu
# Aug 24 2007 at 9:38 PM Rating: Decent
duo'ed this with me as a blu/nin and my partner as a mnk/nin

was unbelievably easy, got the monk down once to 50% with a stun then multiple hits, but that was the only hits it ever landed.
i didnt even get to use half my MP before it was dead.

i'm going to try this solo next time as blu/nin.
Duod as well.

I had been trioing this lately but my brother changed work hours and it is making it tough to get his ninjar out for some fun so I duo'd this with BLU/NIN and WHM/SMN. Headbutt and Frightful Roar (if you can get it to land) are awesome. Other than that, nothing to add.

Won this now about 8 times, first 2 or 3 as a trio NIN RDM WAR, then on as NIN RDM or WAR RDM. pretty much any melee job subbing NIN + a healer can win this easilly.

Key things to remember are if you get into trouble, just run away. the mob will only take any intrest in you if you run up to it... soon as you run away it will de-aggro and carry on running around the zone. Not really worth debuffing it, it hits ver fast and relatively hard but like i say you can just run away soon as shadows run out.

Some guides suggest running from -ga, but if your meleeing it when it starts casting your best bet is to weaponskill in the hope of it interupting, his -ga III does about 700 with shell IV on if i remember correctly. healer just cure spam whoever is the melee, its that simple.

Loot my group has gotten from it has been pretty poor, out of 8 runs we got 0 cloud evokers, 0 maneaters, 7 onimarus, 4 kujesu satins, 1 urushi, 1 galatea, 2 wagh baghnaks.

Just won this fight as a duo of THF/NIN (me), BLM/WHM (Memimi) in 7 min 45 sec, and we can definitely cut down on that time. Both of us are 75 of course. No particularly special gear, just me in evasion build. I didn't even shoot bolts. We only got satin, 16k on Remora ;; So yeah, THF and BLM can duo if anyone was curious. Happy hunting!

Duoed this twice recently with a WHM, and MNK/NIN (Myself)

Just have the WHM keep Baraero and Haste up, and use cures and regen as necessary.

The NM essentially tries to kite you, he'll use Numbing Noise (stun), and then run around and probably cast Aero IV or Aeroga III. Just try to keep Utsusemi up and run to it when stun wears off.

I did this ENM alot of times and did this with only 2 ppl NIN+RDM(me)

Go in, buffs up ( stonskin, phalax, blink and baraera.

NIN just kite the NM around or melee it untill it do Numbing Noise then I'll cast Thunder III/Blizzard III on it (usually do about 500+dmg) NIN is really nice for this ENM if do it at nightime because of NIN's AF boot ( 25% speed at nighttime or so). I just need to keep baraera up and keep NIN full heal all the time then this ENM is easy and remember to bring Antidot with you too because this NM like to spam poison ALOT. I got about 3-4 Maneater out of about 10-13 battles =)

Good Luck to everyone that do this ENM!

I do this every week with PLD(me), RDM, and DRG.

We are 3/3 now, drops havent been as great as everyone elses though.

The thing that is really key to victory, is that after the Eft stops running, he doesnt move from that spot; the eft will just stay still and repeatedly use Toxic spit. So there is no need for your tank to get hit with his melee, he/she can just spam hate grabing abilities and keep distance. This works really well because if the Eft starts casting Aero IV or Aeroga III, its it really easy to just run out of range. The only thing to be careful for is if the Eft casts Gravity and then an Aero spell.

Me and two friends static this little ENM so easy. Done him 5 times in total, all victories, not all good rewards, but more good then bad.

The PLD simply tries to tank the Eft. I myself as the WHM heal the PLD and Diaga (remove those freaking shadows before SMN does Predator Claws =P) the thing. The SMN does Predator Claws and hits the Eft for an average of about 600 damage a go I believe, this taking off about 15% of the eft's HP in one go. after about 7 or 8 hits from that the thing goes down. So in total the fight takes about 8~10 minutes.

However next time we are switching the PLD from Earth Staff to Joy-Toy to see if we can speed things up even more =P. He can take the hits now what first couple of times Earth Staff helped quite a bit (bit not that greatly as the Eft is hugely wind based =P) however now he can take it gunna do swift blades on him and they hurt the eft hard too =P.

Results we had were
1st Maneater and Galateia. 3M~ Total, 1M each
2nd Ouryu Uncapped BCNM Battle item, forget name. nothing else
3rd Onimaru and something equally as bad, had to vendor Onimaru in the end little gil there
4th Onimaru (vendored again), Army's Paoen V and I think it was Kejusu Satin~ 210K total, 70K each
5th Maneater and Galateia (AGAIN!) 6.3M~ Total, 2.1M each (about 2 months past since previous and between 3rd and 4th battles I was left without internet for 4 weeks so we could not do ENM at that time)

NOTE: First time we did this the PLD died near the very end (only death we had on this ENM) but reraised. Eft went for me but it was almost dead and SMN finished it with Predator Claws. In a total of 5 runs we all made about 3.2M gil and 10K limits/EXP, not bad really for something that only takes about 30 minutes per run =P. Lastly, we still have Ouryu BCNM Item since HNM LS does not have the correct people to do that battle yet =P, but we are looking forward to it.

k did this as 72 bst 72 bst and 75 bst.
he didn't attack pets....at all. we ran in called bst waited for timer then sent pets in. we got hate from sending the pets in and didn't lose it the whole time. only thing that hit it was our CC's which managed to get it down to 32% before we bit the dust.
now 1 thing to mention is he does that pos hack and jumps from spot to spot so make sure the pt stays together so CC can hit him instead of running all over the place trying to catch him.

couple questions though.
1 was that just a glitch or is that the way it is now from recent update?
2 does he actually do any melee moves? he just spammed toxic spit over and over and did a gravity aero4 and aeroga3. he never actually melee hit any of us. Thanks in advance

this is the most eastest enm lol. I did it with bst... bst... and... bst. all lvl 75. We go in each of us pop a CC jug. sic it at the mob and just sit on the ground and wait for it to die. no need to worry about time or anything... after the mob death we just walk to the treasuer chest and pop the chest... so easy!!! I <3 bst ^^v btw we finished at 6mins and 45sec lol.

Ok so i actually tried this one out... it was NIN, THF, and WHM.

Was really easy. All the nin needs to do is voke and run away when the thing casts -ga. We did Blade: Ku to Dancing Edge for nice damage. The only reason i'm actually posting is that... We got 2 Maneaters to drop.

I didn't think it was possible but ya.. 2 maneaters.

our list of stuffs that dropped:
Cloud Evoker
Kejusu Satin
Maneater
Maneater

and of course 2k exp (I'm just reg thf with reg THII... no thf knife and no AF2 armlets)

just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.
my group (Nin, Rdm<-me, and Smn) were gonna do this. Me and SMN entered but then our NIN realized he forgot to hand in ENM item so we were stuck and had to Duo.

It is very easily Duoable as long as RDM is /drk. It has ZERO physical attacks as long as you dont go close to it. It just spams a move that poisons you (which RDM can counteract with stoneskin). I basically ran around outrunning all spells and stopped while SMN busted out Garuda and did predator Claws. If it started casting a spell while i was stopped, i would cast stun and that would take care of it (tho bieng my first run i didnt think about stunning since i was running all over, i managed to eat Aero / ga pretty well (note i wore Static Earring mgk def+2 and that cape with mgk def+2 as well as AF2 hands for another +2 to mgk def).
Just keep repeating Predator Claws and you can win easily duo.

Me and the SMN wasted a few mins pondering on what to do when NIN couldnt enter, but in the end we won with literally 1 second to spare. 14 mins and 59 seconds clear time lol
(jaquio) Better than Chi-> dancing edge

Took me a while to learn this, but a better SC for distortion for nin and thf is Blade: Ku--> Dancing Edge. I hang with 2 nins sometimes, so Ku-> DE-> Ku is nice for darkness.

SMN/WHM (with shiva fighting) + NIN/WAR + THF/NIN (with Chicken knife)

It might sound kinda weak initially, but you wanna keep as much DMG on Race Runner as possible. The eft usually runs away after doing his TP attack, and w/o flee it's about 15-20 secs to get to him. The chicken knife in the offhand keeps DOT on him, and keeps Flee active to cutdown on loss of DOT from the eft running away. With Shiva out, you have 3 people beating on him for TP. Blade: Chi >> Dancing Edge = Lv2 Distortion with Shiva MB. Rinse and repeat.

8 min. 42 seconds

Message upon entering today:

"The miasma filter cannot hold any more poisonous gas!
Entering the battlefield for "Like the Wind"!
Currently, 18 members of your alliance (including yourself) have clearence to enter the battlefield.
The time limit for this battle is 15 minutes."

So you could take a full alliance. And most likely get about 3 xp per person...

I used to be able to rape this as BSTsx3 and now we can't even come close to winning it. I know SE has changed this once before, did they do it again w/o mentioning it?

Just did this a little while ago. We were gonna do a 6 man, but our blm enm timer wasn't up yet. We were probably gonna do the sheep one.

Anyways, we ended up doing this one. I was there as a rng. I would say a rng would do about the same dmg as a melee, though it does have good dmg resist to rng and magic atks.

While we were fighting it, there was something strange. After it takes off running and I catch up to within in my range quick enough, I notice a higher dmg for a short while. Maybe it gets some sort of berserk effect after that "Numbing Noise" goes off, that's why it runs from the melees. Interesting, no?

This is an ENM designed for melee characters. The one NM Race Runner is resistant to magic and ranged damage. Therefore your only real option is melee dmg. During the fight Race Runner will periodically use the stunning attack "Numbing Noise" then take off and run a short distance. It doesn't take very long to catch up however and he stays still long enough to hit so it's not like you're chasing him around hoping you get a hit in. He does cast wind spells(Aero IV, Aeroga III, Gravity, Blink) and is resistant to silence(as well as most other debuffs). He doesn't cast very much though so it's not a big worry.

Suggested Setup

Melee/nin
Melee/nin
Whm or /whm (need poisona, erase, cures)

I've done it with mnk/nin mnk/nin whm/blm. Toxic spit goes through shadows so toss a poisona at that. Gravity is obviously a pain so that needs to be erased. If the melees are decent they won't get hit too much with normal attacks, but it will happen. When AerogaIII happens I suggest just running away from each other unless you have a stun. We got hit with it once, but what's a AerogaIII to a Galkan monk with 1900 hp? Basic melee plan is hit him until he dies. Chase him when he runs. Use weaponskills when you got them. Doesn’t really have much hp. Shouldn't have any trouble. Good Luck!

Yeah, kinda reminds me of the royal jelly BCNM40 in that it's a 3 man that's easy to setup. 2 melee, healer. Getting a full party together can be a hassle, but setting this up is cake. I definantly plan on doing this one more in the future.
