The latent effect is activated by eating pamamas. (Get it? Primate= ape) That's not a joke btw.
lmao This staff + opo-opo crown + pamamas = amazing. I was gettin more hate that a 71drg with that combo earlier, and my staff skill is only 210! he was drg/whm though lol using spear of trials so that's not sayin much :P Oh and I also have maxed merits on crits so that probably helped >:D (yes I maxed crit merits on whm, but not for whm :P).
From what I'm told Maxed crits do some insane damage, and insane hate. A BLM Taru friend of mine put 1, uno, Ichi, freaking ONE, merit into it and he ******* about it ever since. He did it to lvl MNK, and he ends up doing crits to much for the PLD to keep hate. I remember him complaining of a death and asking if I was available for R3 three times. So, becarefull with those crit merits, unless your lvling a tank, you might be in a world of hurt my friend.
Let's say I'm a level 73-75 PLD in DD setup tanking with Primate Staff in KRT with a MNK-burn/bonecrusher party. Would it be better for me to eat Pamamas for the crazy lowered delay and +10 acc latent effects, or to stick with sushi?
Obviously here I'm talking about maximizing damage output so there's no loss of defense to worry about. I wouldn't be eating Tacos for +def or anything.
so im going to hazard a guess at the sub-jobs here based on the materials.
so a gold ingot requires 50-54 GS so then i'd say ~ 55 GS sub
tehn for a darksteel ingot requires 50-53 smithing, so again im gunna guess a 55 subcraft.
of course theres always the possibility that im totally wrong, and these are just possibilities...and this is all just based on materials which have been misleading in the past. but theres my two cents.
What is fun with this is that woodworkers buy this, make a Kinkobo, and sell it for less than they bought it for.
I know the reason to why, but it is kinda sad and must suck for woodworkers to have to sell it lower to get it sold... not complaining tho, saved a good 20k on buying a Kinkobo instead of Primate Staff :p
Fun fact: I believe this weapon is based after the Nyoi-bou. The extendable staff of the Monkey King, Son Goku, from the "Journey to the West" novel.
Being the folklore/folktale/myth [and Saiyuki] junkie that I am, I was really surprised after seeing someone with this in-game. :D (And sadly, I took around... five screenshots. ._.;;)
It is indeed. :3 In other Final Fantasy games (such as Final Fantasy Tactics and now FFXII) it's called 'Gokuu Rod'. I remember when I first noticed in FFT; I immediately thought, "OMG! It's Gokuu's staff! xD" I love fun little references like this.
I'm assuming you haven't seen the c1980's TV show Monkey, featuring said staff and a cast of pilgrims getting into all sorts of hilarious situations with demons ?
As far as I know, all of the ws-unlocked stuff is rare-ex. This isn't, but it's name suggests it's activated by pamamas (just like opo crown). What everyone else is saying agrees with this.
anyone figured out how to activate the Latent Effect yet?
My assumption will be that you need to Sub NIN or MNK to activate it, or be a MNK main, Since the "Kinkobo" has a Enchantment: Subtle Blow. and the only jobs that get this job trial is NIN and MNK.
But learn to read, he was asking how to unlock the Latent Effect on a Primate Staff, while bringing up points on a different weapon of which this is an ingredient.
