I decided to check out the Steppes to find a safe slow grind spot that will pay for my Merc. These mobs near the druid ring are well worth your time if you are a low 70's enchanter. You can use charm strategy here and the charmed pet assumes hate instantly. Don't even need root. Nuke away. You actually have to walk up to let them take a swipe at you for the merc to engage. They drop about 40 pp each. Used one to kill a darkfell archer and it dropped the Elaborate Defiant Cutlass in addition to 26 pp. Looks like I will be here for a bit. Might hafta try without the merc.
Been hunting these for awhile now and have yet to see a spell drop. They seem to be pretty rare, so if you go after them, be prepared to be there awhile.
I've hunted the Chef camp several times for molds and have never seen one of these gate. Tonight though one gated and brought friends, so I don't know if this is new or some bad luck with warping.
Was under the belief for the longest time that only "a Darkfell gnoll" had dropped spells.Today a Darkfell sharpshooter dropped <Sorcerous Shield Rk.II>
Killed one of these earlier while camping Chef... He dropped a lvl 71 chanty spell, will have to look at name later to be absolutely sure, but I believe it was Rune of Ellowind Rk. II
Happy Hunting
EDIT ------------------------------------------------------------- Just checked, Indeed dropped Spell: Rune of Ellowind Rk. II
I parse these between 44000-49800 HP. They do not summon. They randomly see invis. They have ranged attack that is minimal risk; great kiter targets for skilling up defense & dodge. Very low chance to drop parchments/scrolls/pages, but most common mob.
