On the west coast of Shadowmoon Cove is a Delivery Cart. Click on this to hide inside (cover yourself in a Cart illusion), then "drive" it to the tent to steal the egg. You cannot attack while so hidden, but nothing will see through it, not even the Elites. It also does not break when you steal the egg (or when you cast the Curse Potion, if you have the quest A Nice Surprise).
