| No doubt the answer to #2 is time.
For the first one...a hammer is a decent choice, except that it wouldn't come out "battered and thrashed". As Funked said, armor that is damaged could easily let a blow through. So, with those in mine, my opinion is that it will be a shield. =)

| IT is true you can combine and make these at a low trivial. The one thing you have to remember is they are not cheap to make! The JC subcombine anyway...
