Message To Windows XP Users

This was sent to my email for you guys: Due to the firewall function of Windows XP Service Pack 2 which was recently released by Microsoft, a dialog may appear when you attempt to use the PlayOnline Viewer or FINAL FANTASY XI. If such a dialog appears, please select "Unblock" and you will be able to continue to play normally. This dialog can also appear after returning to the PlayOnline Viewer (in windowed mode) from FINAL FANTASY XI. If "Keep Blocking" is selected, you may become unable to connect. By performing the following steps, it is possible to "Unblock" PlayOnline and FINAL FANTASY XI. 1. From the Start menu, select Start -> Control Panel and select "Windows Firewall." 2. Click the "Exceptions" tab to display the application registration screen. 3. If "PlayOnline Viewer" is displayed on the list, check the box next to it. If "PlayOnline Viewer" is not displayed, select "Add Program" and register the POL.EXE file from the folder where you installed PlayOnline. 4. Select "OK" and exit the "Windows Firewall" to complete the process. For further details regarding Windows XP Service Pack 2, please see the below Microsoft web page. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx

windower 100% safe

the windower is client side, they can't find out that you're using it (unless you blab about it in chat).

Chances of you getting banned for using windower are virutally zero.

FFXI can only be played in full screen, but the POL.exe program can be in a window or full screen. I think that what it means is after you leave FFXI, you go back to POL and it will ask if you want POL to have access when switching back to it.

I play on PS2 but recently ordered a PC version (arriving tomorrow). Ive read that the PC game takes all of the screen and you cant have it as a window to switch between programs.

Is there a program that helps put the game on a window so you can switch it back to another window (for example when your boss comes near you):-)

If you cant post this here beacuse it somehow alters FFXI cold you email me.

TIA

Doing ALT + TAB is a very BAD idea. It will basically shut down your game, and you'll get a small error. I know this from doing it several times on accident because from going to hit ALT + 1 for a macro, I accidentally hit TAB.

As for the Windower, it's a violation of the User Agreement I do believe for FFXI and is illegal to use. People still use them though, but some are gutsy. I would highly recommend you don't get a Windower, but that's your choice.

As for finding one, you're on your own there, not going to risk my game for a silly windowing program. =p

Yes, there are programs. I'm not totally comfortable posting the links on Allakhazam because I'm not 100% sure how they deal with things like that, but...

Just Google "FFXI Windower Program" and you should be able to find what you want. Just, y'know, beware of installing unknown software on your PC.

I do know that there is a program out there that allows you to do that. I dont know what it is or where to find it. just a reminder, though, that any 3rd party programs, that interfere with FFXI, can be cause for suspension from the game or other. just a friendly warning ^^
