RIFT and Defiance on the Rise After Huge Week
RIFT and Defiance gained over a quarter of a million new users last week.
Trion Worlds has gained over a quarter of a million players for its two games RIFT and Defiance. The company's stellar week was highlighted by the re-release of RIFT as a free-to-play offering on Steam and its participation in the marathon for charity for children known as Extra Life.
RIFT had a particularily exceptional week, gaining its highest single day increase of new users. Trion Worlds also garnered the most fundraising for the Extra Life charity, raising a whopping $63,000 for children's hospitals. The public's reaction to the Extra Life marathon was immense; Defiance's creative lead Trick Dempsey was astounded:
"The outpouring of support was overwhelming... We sent free copies of Defiance to Extra Life participants and tens of thousands of new gamers came to play the game with us. I was floored to see how many people not only jumped on to play but also who watched the stream and cheered us on."
Trion Worlds' CEO Scott Hartsman was equally humbled by the incredible response. "It goes to show that our philosophy of ‘the more you give, the more you get’ really resonated... We’re proud to support our players with great content and to be able to join together with them and support children’s hospitals."
RIFT has shown no signs of slowing down as the game's newest update, Song of Dreams, recently launched on the 6th of November. Trion Worlds also has plans to release Defiance's second DLC pack titled Arkbreaker, it is slated for launch later this December.
