EVE Gifts Skill-points To Players Due To Downtime
In response to last weekend's DDoS attack, EVE players receive compensation.
If you've been following the news surrounding CCP's Sci-fi MMO, EVE Online, then you're probably aware that last weekend the Tranquility cluster and web servers that house EVE Online and DUST 514 sustained a DDoS attack. In response to EVE servers being hit with prolonged downtime on Sunday, June 2nd and Monday, June 3rd CCP developers are sending players a gift of in-game skill-points.
All players who have fully active EVE Online accounts will be gifted 50,000 skill points due to the server downtime. These skill points stack on top of the previous 50,000 that were given two weeks prior due to technical issues. Players who are looking to allocate those points into their ship skills should be sure to check out the recent devblog on ship skill changes before doing so.
Players who are currently on trial accounts will not be rewarded skill points, but will have 7 extra days added to their trial time.
Chief Operating Officer, CCP Spielmann, addressed the incident in a statement that can be viewed here and reminds players that they do have a PLEX for snitches program that rewards players who report and help prevent this type of behavior from happening in the future.
While DDoSing is always bad for a game and its community, it's good that EVE players who were hampered by this will at least be receiving some compensation to ease the annoyance a bit. For more EvE Online news updates, be sure to keep your browser locked to ZAM.
Godspeed!
