I suppose it was inevitable!

The Repopulation is adding player housing when it finally goes full release, but it won't just be instanced housing, like EverQuest 2 or its kin. They're rolling out all three versions - instanced housing, persistent world housing (Star Wars Galaxies' buildings), and player city housing (SWG's player cities).
