Obsidian Launches Project Eternity Kickstarter

You already have my money.

If you're anything like me, you've always had a soft spot for Obsidian Entertainment. Sure, their games are buggy and glitchy and crash more than the airships in 8Bit Theater, but they have heart, ambition, and solid writing. Alpha Protocol was unfinished and painful to play at times, but it was still one of my favorite action RPGs of that year.

So, naturally, the writer of Planescape: Torment, the creators of Fallout 1 and 2, and the gameplay designers of Icewind Dale have all decided to start a classic, western RPG in the style of Baldur's Gate, and to do it, they need 1.1 million dollars to avoid publisher demands and put out the game themselves. Project Eternity promises nothing more than to be an isometric, party-based PC RPG, but that's all I could ever ask of the guys who brought us classics like Torment. I've donated my $65, and it's already halfway to it's goal. For your money, you can easily snag an early copy of the game.
