Rain of Fear: Feature List

Here is a feature list along with a couple early screenshots from EverQuest's 19th expansion, Rain of Fear:

You and your friends destroyed the newly created god, The Triumverate, causing an explosion that rocked Norrath and released the stolen power of fear.

This power is returning to Norrath, falling from the sky in the form of crystalline shards. Who will gain control of the essence of fear?

The Harbingers of Thule entreat you to gather the essence of their lost god before it falls into the hands of others. You will uncover the mysteries of the giant crystals that have fallen to Norrath. Explore newly discovered lands and revisit the frozen wastes of Velious. Battle old foes empowered by shards, confront them and reclaim the power of fear.

We are proud to announce the 19th expansion of the EverQuest franchise, Rain of Fear. EverQuest is now in its 14th year of continuous development. The story that started with House of Thule and the death of Cazic-Thule, takes on a new twist with Rain of Fear. EverQuest delivers new content to explore as well as exciting new features and must-have in-game items. Lastly, don't miss out on your chance to be a Centurion! Rain of Fear now allows your character to level to an unprecedented 100!!

I've been a member with multiple accounts for 12 years.
My thoughts for the features for this new expansion:

My Momma always told me if you didn't have any thing nice to say, then don't say anything at all!

***** you, Sony. Don't change Velious in any way. Why do you keep destroying my favorite places?

Seeds of Destruction and House of Thule (perhaps others I haven't explored?) all have old school zones (e.g. "Revisit Qeynos Hills and Commonlands, re-live memories in The Bloodfields" or "It's the same Erudin you remember but you've never seen it like this!") but doesn't affect the actual old school zone. Before jumping to conclusions, see first if they are actually making changes and if they are, see if those changes advance the game, are neutral changes (did Feerrott change when they added Dream Feerrott? Sure, but doesn't affect game play there), or if they really are negative changes.

When LDoN was only for below 80's, at first I was upset. Then I remember "Oh, yeah, it's LDoN. Who cares." Velious was no doubt one of the best xpacs to grace this game but if they add content to it (which I doubt they will actually be adding content to it, no more so than Feerrott with a statue you click on), all the better.

I just wish that they would improve the PC graphics to look a little bit better. Currently they are so outdated that you get better PC graphics from free cell phone games. The over all lack of graphic appeal gets tiring when you play for hours at a time. Aside from that I think the agro meter will help alot for my wizard and zerker so I don't wind up splattered against yet another wall.

Really? I have played a lot of games and EQ is fine , not the best grapic-meaning lifelike-but i dont want life like- and I dont want cartoony either, This is where EQ nails it on the grapics. I just want to "escape for a few hours" and again this is where EQ nails it for the long run.

•Continued opportunity to kill off Halflings.

That should be THE selling point.

I guess they were just trying to make us feel better with the token vote on new expansion or more content- everyone i know voted for more content instead. Wish for once soe would actually mean what they claim instead of constantly double-talking.

Same here, cap increase, new spells over new content unreachable unless you are in some high level guild that raids regularly.

They don't take the voting seriously. It doesn't even work properly. I had the thing pop up at least a dozen times and i tried to vote every time. I got through once. Not sure why they kept bothering me about it after i had already voted. I agree with you. It seems like they just wanted us to feel like we had some sort of say in things.

New Linear Item Progression – Stats on armor collected will increase as you move up from one tier to another. I wonder how that will be different from Evolving Items. I have kept a few evolving items at max lvl just in case i ever saw another evolving item i wanted to lvl up. I would then head towards Corathus Creep and see Switch Billingsley.

If it is the way im thinking it is then you won't need to get more armor drops later on in the higher tiers of the expansion because once you get to those points via tasks/missions the tier 1 gear from that expansion will automatically upgrade to the next tier. That would be wicked cool but what happens if you only had 2 or 3 of that tier 1 armor when you got to the next tier. If you had to go back and get the rest of your tier 1 armor would you then need to go through the progression crap again to upgrade it or would they still have the ole method of upgrading the gear available by killing a named mob in a higher tier and doing those lame combines. Ah well. I guess ill find out more like everyone else as the expansion gets closer to release.
