In this week's episode, Mike B. aka Fony dives back into Rift and talks exclusively about PvP. He even gives some tips on how to defeat your opponents in a couple Warfront maps.

A couple weeks ago, Mike B. aka Fony spent an entire episode of the BFF Report talking about the basics of Rift: character creation, game mechanics, gameplay, you name it. In his latest episode, Fony ventures back into Rift and focuses exclusively on PvP.

Fony discusses Favor and Prestige (which is basically currency and experience), PvP souls and a couple Warfront maps. He even gives some tips on how to wreck your opponents in the Black Garden and the Codex!

i quit wow to play rift till diablo 3 enough said good game breaks away form the wow mentality even though after playing for 5 years i can pick out where all there ideas came from but that's ok cause they did a way better job in creating this then blizzard did for cata ! so RIFT IT UP !

WoW this game looks so amazing...do ya get it!? haha but seriously Rift looks like it will pull me back into the world of MMO's!!! WoW killed MMO's for me with every game recycling the same WoW rip off formula but Rift looks amazing & like I could play it until GW2, Diablo III, & Skyrim!!!

Anyone who says Rift is a WoW clone hasn't played the game past the newbie area and as such are idiots.

Love the Game, a few minor key points people have complained(pointed out) about are the Target retinal brightness, and class recognition at a glance. Personally the class recognition is not a game breaker for me, but the targeting can get annoying. On the key parts of the game, the soul tree is the most awesome and original idea an MMO has had for a long time, I'd say in terms of the soul tree, Trion reinvented the wheel and gave me a steel belted radial. Not since playing DDO have I had the versatility in character building that I get in Rift!

As a side note, be warned about posting Rift anything in the WoW forums, it will be removed stat and you will be banned from the forums....lol
Think Blizzard may just be worrying a tiny bit about Rift!

Rift is just the right combination of pieces of other games. But for me, the biggest selling point is the soul system; it's probably as close as we're going to get to a mainstream skill-based game.

I've only gotten to play Black garden, but the PvP is a lot of fun. You never know *quite* what you're going up against with other players. It adds a nice element of uncertainty to it.

I've played many MMOs (from EQ1 on and all of them) and I've played WoW since launch. I've gotten into the Beta 5, and preordered the CE edition of the game shortly after playing. I love this freaking game. It made me completely stop raiding (as the primary healer for 10 mans in my guild >.> shh don't tell them!) as I just need my Rift Fix. Oh well can't freaking wait for this! 1 month to go.

Rift is awesome, it will definately cut into the WOW time. I participated in BETA 5, thanks ZAM for the key, and am disappointed it is over. Bought the game just to get my fix in Beta 6, and beyond. Love the Public group thing as well as the PVP. Great review spot on!

very nice report i thought!!!!! I got 5 yrs into WoW and ive been on beta 5 i pre bought the game off of vids i saw of game play. I will be switching to rift and most of our guild will be to some how we got beta inv's most hadn't per purchased the game so we played together in beta. all in all very nice game and for the WoW clone ppl everything made after EQ,WoW,ffxi will be concidered that this game just took the best from all of the games and made one bad *** game in my opionion

It IS too Warhammer-ish. The "fun" is going to peak fast and go "yawn" too soon. Much like Cataclysm did,which is why there is such a large buzz of a game whose graphics blend too much,causing eye damage and nose bleeding when trying to move,track,target,attack.....and really, you think Rift WONT nerf the leap ? Come on....lol. When enough people ***** and complain about NOT having a leap/TP ability and how, boo hoo, OP it is.....yah. You know the game by now,suck the fattest coc...er....account pool and appease them,regardless if it actually is a balance issue. Again,something we see in EVERY game.

Sorry for that long ***,run on,paragraph.

I called it on Conan,LOTR and Warhammer(Granted this took longer than I picked).....18 months FREE TO PLAY.....and don't get me started on the Psudo-Westernized Terra grind-fest of eye gouging

awesome game so far best part is the leap actually works which is really nice :D really enjoying this game defiently gana buy it don't think it will kill my WoW addiction but probably cut in on my WoW gametime some

the skill isnt bull leap, i've been looking for it but cant find it. If anyone knows what skill that is let me know please!

Also, what is that UI, is it a mod?

You can customize your own UI to look exactly like that by moving stuff around on the screen :)

Just play around with it, have fun with it. It's actually not bad. There's stuff that we get used to with addons from other games, but ... for the most part, a lot of the features of moving the UI around are pretty much what X Perl does (for example).

Also, the Bull Rush ability also lets you get up into the Codex spawn zone if you use it right :) hehe it's really funny LOLOL

Rift is sexy MMO! I liked it played on beta 5 gonna try get key for upcoming beta.... Champion and BG's pewpew =)) love it <3

And customize your ui without need to download sh*tlods of addons! Really sweet + saves time and no need update all sh*t you anyhow dont really need to use. Ye beside maybe Omen and recount in WoW and ofc dbm addon but they prolly make sum for Rift later... or who knows maybe aint needed ^^
