October 14, 2003 Update notes Client version: 59800.20
  • Improved client stability
  • Cries of Alderaan 2: Fixed a bug where players wouldn't get the key for the Imperial Relay Station
  • Fixed a problem where the power consumption rate was displaying incorrectly.
  • Nym's Stronghold: Updated dialog script for the pirate engineer (said Kole, should have said Jinkins).
  • Fixed a problem with loot components that was causing them to all be stackable. Loot components should only be stackable if they are all looted from the same creature.
  • Fixed a problem where missions that were taken while in groups weren't difficult enough.
  • Fixed several droids that were not craftable.
  • Fixed a problem with several droids which could not be called.

I would like to say bravo to developers for the Bio-Engineering profession. What a great job. To be able to play mini god. The animals look great the difficulty is great (yes I grind and am sick because I love it. It's forced meditation)but sometimes meat is hard to come by especially high quality meat. would love to be able to farm some creatures. maybe make a ranch of blurrgs. Then HQ meat will be within reach to craft with, sell or perhaps have a huge guild or town sized bar-be-que. Just a couple thought. have talked about this with other BEs they laugh but think it would be a good thing to be able to farm animals.
Crashes? Not so much

When crafting (ok, I admit it... I mean grinding) I get messages that say "The Crafting Session Has Ended"

Any ideas?

I have noticed one great stability problem that was appent a couple weeks ago. Even though some servers are offline I can still logon my server. good job devs.
Stability

I dunno about client stability...I've been crashing a lot (Windows XP bluescreen, no less) after I zone (go to another planet) or sometimes when I click on a terminal (bazaar, mission, etc). Didn't seem to have this problem a few patches ago. I have a GeForce4 ti4600.
Group Mission Level
# Oct 15 2003 at 6:38 PM Rating: Decent
The change has been great. Both solo with pets and grouped with others have shown a huge jump in mission range and they have been much more challenging and way more fun. This was the best fix I have seen in SWG thus far.

Also, an FYI--the BDQ missions on Dant that are a bit over 10k credits spawn babies. They used to be only on the 9800 credit quenker missions.

Happy Hunting!

well either i got the bug before it is fixed or the fix didnt reset my mission. I am still stuck. My ticket submission system does not submit tickets either and i have yet to receive any reply from /bug.

I even emailed SOE about it and have not heard back from them. been 7 days now. I wonder if i will ever be able to complete act II
:(

i am so sad

You won't ever get a reply from a /bug submission, those go straight to the devs to be worked on. If you need a reply, you should submit a Customer Service ticket (don't expect a fast reply, but there's always a chance :) )
Works for me

The Patch did give me a greater range of difficulty in missions when I group my probot and pull my Chu pa. It works for me and I can't wait to get on tonight and try some of these more challenging missions.

Definately no change in the mission difficulty with a group.

There is if you have a pet... if you group your pet, the mission difficulty changes.
No change in missions
# Oct 15 2003 at 7:45 AM Rating: Default
I've tested the missions (non faction-based) and found no change at all in difficulty or payout with a group as opposed to without. The missions were too easy for me before the huge patch, and now they are simply not worth the effort to get my (gasp) 10K credits per mission. I do hope they fix this a little more. And taking down a huge faction base when I'm with a big group (talkin turrets and muliple ATST's) would be incredible.

Don't know what you're talking about today i was on lok, by myself all i could get was 5k missions, i pulled out two pets and grouped with them and then i could get 13 and 14k missions again.

I think that if they have a weekly patch (big one) we will have a hit on our hands.

Games like EQ do, why not SWG>??? The fanbase is twenty-fold higher.

yes one big patch per week would be nice. I am a power grinder and even though it's less then an hour (most times) save the biguns for a saturday or sunday (tee hee thats when I work) but please limit to 2-4 hours. then a huge daylong once a month. No more dailies would be great.

well at least I can finally tame my R5 droid deed
Pet commands
# Oct 15 2003 at 4:32 AM Rating: Default
They still havent fixed the bug concerning pet commands. Everytime i log off for at least 10 min my pet (every pet trained AFTER the patch of doom) forget all of his commands. And since I'm not an ch I have to find a master ch to train my pet every singel day. ARG

After two months of play I had my first CTD after the previous BIG patch. I had also just downloaded the then latest Catalyst 3.7s during that time frame as well (9800 Pro).

When the 3.8s came out and then subsequent Dell leaked Cats, I haven't had another CTD. Dunno if it is driver related, but it seemed to work for me.
not too sure what....

hmmm...don't really know. I have not really experienced any problems that they fixed with this patch. One thing i do know is i crash more now than i did before the patch. Doesn't really bother me too much just annoying
More frequent fixes even when regressions occur!
# Oct 15 2003 at 12:13 AM Rating: Decent
Im glad to see the updates happening more openly and frequently. I would rather see us be guinea pigs for hot fixes than wait forever to get 'verified' fixes. Supporting SWG is probably about as challenging as it gets, with a highly demanding audience. I test software for a living and I applaud Sony's move toward improvements. This game will never be perfect but I still have high hopes for things getting progressively better.
Improved client stability?

Bah! I'm a bit upset, i've been crashing to desktop while playing in windowed mode a lot lately. This *rarely* happened before the crash, now I can count on it. Even after this new patch after the patch that patched the big patch... it's still happening a lot more. :(

How do you put the game into Winddowed mode?
RE: Improved client stability?

It is in the game options at startup
