Servers will have a brief downtime for today's hotfix.

All U.S. servers came down today at 7am PST for a weekly hotfix. Estimated downtime is two hours.

UPDATE: Amnerys updated everyone regarding the confusion over today's hotfix:

Correction: The hotfix was not canceled. Updates were pushed to the servers. Update notes will be available in the forum soon.

MARKETPLACE

  • You can now use the Marketplace at Login / Character Create to purchase account related items such as character slots!
  • You can now send gifts to your friends from the Marketplace!

ABILITIES
If the caster cancels a maintained spell that he cast, it will cancel the spell for everyone in the group.

PVP GENERAL
Fixed a crash bug from Battlegrounds and PvP combat.

QUESTS
Sinking Sands: The Beetle Herding quest line should be working correctly now.

For those of you that may be apprehensive to try out gifting a station cash item without knowing how it works first, Calthine and I tested this out this afternoon! Calthine wrote up a walkthrough for the whole process which you can view at Gifting Station Cash Items. :)

We can send/receive Marketplace gifts to friends now? Okay, who wants to be me FRIEEEEND? Actually, I think that's a really nice idea for those who make use of the Marketplace. Especially with Frostfell just around the corner.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to find a few Sony Station dollars as dropped chest items? Or, find them as LoN Loots Cards? I'm not talking 1,000 SC or anything, but 50 or so would put a smile on some faces, don't you think?

Speaking of LoN loot cards, if memory serves, weren't LoN booster packs sometimes found on mobs in EQ I at some point? Hint, hint Sony...

The booster packs used to drop from random mobs. Not sure what ever happened to SOE doing that. But it would be nice to see some market cash or loot cards or something drop rarely from chests.

They were also found on mobs in EQII at the same time they were in EQI. I was playing both games at the time and the drop rate for both single cards and booster packs was substantially higher in EQII. In fact, I sat in Gorowyn for like 3 hours one day with a lvl one AE'ing the instant respawn mobs and made out with like 200 plat worth of booster packs and cards. It was nuts! This is something I really wish they would bring back. IIRC, originally it wasn't an event at all, it was just something they added to the game. I do remember an event where they increased the drop-rate over a weekend for some reason.


- On that note, I think that offering players the ability to gift friends via Marketplace is an awesome idea.
