Proposed Revisions to Job Emotes
# Nov 23 2010 at 9:24 AM Rating: Default
I couldn't just post another "Meh, I don't like'em" post lol so I've put together some proposed revisions for the Dev team. Now as a disclaimer, I DO in fact like a number of the emotes shown in the video! I'm sure even my suggestions can be scrutinized as well, but I feel these would fit the jobs better than what's being planned.

I've added a visual reference link to each proposed revision(12-3-10)

Here's a description of each proposed revision:
WHM:
A prayer to Altana, hands raised at first, then palms together as she bathes the WHM in confirming white light that causes the very plant life beneath the WHM's feet to grow and dance with joy. As the light fades, the plant life softly blows away.
Visual of "Altana's Blessing".

BLM:
One by one, the BLM charges each element. They crackle and flicker until the BLM's arms burst outward, releasing them into the surrounding air.
Visual of "Sorcerer's Charge".

RDM:
With outstreched arms, the RDM begins to quickly cycle through each En-spell. They blaze and shimmer from finger tip to shoulder.
Visual of "Blazing Warlock".

THF:
The THF quickly swings a bag bursting with Gil and valuables over his shoulder as coins and shinny rings spill to the way-side. He motions with a brief "peace" sign before Fleeing from sight.
Visual of "Thief's Bounty".

BST:
The BST pulls out a small bowl full of treats and begins tossing them in the air. One after the next, a pet races in to receive it's Reward. Each munches quickly, and speeds away from sight.
Visual of "Come and get it".

RNG:
A quick Scavenge and out from the ground pops a Bow and 3 arrows. The RNG proceeds to fire the two arrows upwards out of sight(one following the 1st). A brief pause passes before the two arrows, now in the shape of an "X", spirals to the ground sticking perfectly in the dirt. The third arrow follows quickly and lands to the right of the "X" arrows to create a perfect "XI"!(for FF"XI" of course)
Visual of "Ace's XI".

DRG:
A playful wyvern appears flying above the DRG's head circling. A few playful dives occur before the wyvern swoops behind the DRG and quickly picks him off the ground for a quick few seconds.
Visual of "Need a Lift".

SMN:
The SMN charges each of her powerful avatar energies as the ground rumbles around her. The colorful energies burst in a flash of light once the SMN releases them.
Visual of "Evoker's Rally".

BLU:
Wonderful flashes of light draw inwards as the BLU slowly combs the surrounding air around him with outstretched arms. The charged BLU releases a powerful burst of energy once his arms finish moving and pause in the signature BLU casting pose.
Visual of "Searing Core".

PUP:
In a flash, the PUP and his automation lets fly an array of battle-ready poses. They end with a fantastic fight-ready pose that would provoke even the most patient oppent.
Visual of "Startin' Something".

SCH:
Both, Light and Dark Grimoires appear in front of the SCH with outstretched arms as flashes of each element burst upwards from the books and explode in a wonderful display. Only when the books close and dissapear does the flashes end.
Visual of "Wisdom's Praise".

DRK:
A black portal opens at the feet of the DRK and out pops a random, blackend undead figure( ex.:skeleton, ghost, fomor, hound, etc.) in front of the DRK. Two Red exclamation marks( like the ones from Abyssea monster triggers) pop up above the undead figure's head, and they try to run away in fear. The DRK, all the while, begins a casting motion that draws in the fleeing undead figure until the figure is consumed totally by the DRK! The DRK is left standing with smoldering dark energy emitting from their body.(this would make me want to lvl DRK just for the emote lol)
Visual of "Darkest Craving".

If more come to mind, I'll put them here, but I just wanted to give versions of my vision in the hopes of catching the Dev teams attention. I'm a huge fan of the Dev team's work over the years so I just want to spark something that would (in my opinion)fit the many jobs of FFXI a bit better. Plus, I don't think these proposed emotes would EVER get old lol(again, in my opinion)! Thanks.

The more I think about it, it's almost like SE just needs to create maybe 2-3 Job specific Emote "types".
For example I think all of my worries could be resolved if there were:
"Playful Job emotes"- Light hearted, fun, and silly Job specific emotes that each job could use to communicate good and funny times in FFXI.
"Battle-Ready Job emotes"- Emotes that folks can use anywhere that communicates "I'm a badazz (Job name here) and here's why lol. Emotes that specifically show a battle-ready animation that shows the Job rallying themselves before a fight. The WARs current planned emote is the perfect example of this.
"Preparatory Job emotes"- Emotes that show a Job randomly preparing/maintaining themselves between battles & such. Example: picture a PUPs emote that shows him/her activating their automation to check all of it's joints to satisfaction and such before releasing it.
Another example: A Warriors emote that showed him/her pulling out a sharpening tool(if they have a blade type wpn) and freshening the sharpness of the blade of whatever weapon they have equipped. If it's a staff or a club, they could be shown shinning the weapon or something like that.

I know it would take awhile, but if they could pull that off, I'm almost certain folks would be overjoyed on all fronts... I know I would be ^^ lol

I have this to say... THIS is what the mighty developers have been doing? With all the things they COULD be doing and/or fixing this is what they have been up to? More useless content, just like the idiotic bells they added a while back.

I say they never cease to amaze me with greater and greater levels of stupidity. We give them good solid suggestions and present them with issues and solutions to those issues and they give us Emotes.

I am so happy, thanks SE dev. Team, you guys are awesome.

The zealots are abound. I was presumptuous in my assertion that this would not be a drastic and necessary addition.

Apparently the community hates substance.

My bad.

I had issues recognizing that this is the pinnacle of game design and could very well change the landscape of the medium as we know it.

How could I have been so short sighted.
