How to Win
We have a thread in the General WoW forums for the contest entries. All you have to do is post a response in the thread that states what you’re the most excited about in the new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion. For example:

  • Playing as a Worgen.
  • All the new changes to old Azeroth. I can’t wait to see what it looks like!
  • The new talent changes. My class is going to be OP. QQ moar newbs.

We’ll be collecting entries for the next seven days, and on Monday August 2nd, 2010, we’ll be announcing all fifty winners of the giveaway and we’ll then send you your beta key for Cataclysm! It really is that simple. Just submit the part of Cataclysm you’re most excited about, and you're golden!

Please Note: You must enter your contest submission at the designated forum thread. Any comments on this article will not be counted as submissions.

Additional Note: Both Tankspot and Wowhead will be having their own beta key giveaways in the next few weeks, so make sure you check out our entire network family for all of your chances to win!

++ If you're an AddOn author WoWInterface has almost an unlimited number of keys to give away.

Rules and Qualifications

  • In order to use the beta key, you must have a WoW account in good standing.
  • Posts in the contest thread that are not contest submissions will be deleted.
  • Users may enter more than one Cataclysm item that they’re excited about, but only one entry will be counted per user.
  • We reserve the right to remove entries if we feel like you're not properly participating in the contest.
  • The contest begins on July 26th, and all winners will be announced on August 2nd, 2010.
  • The fifty (50) key winners will be drawn from the pool of eligible posters at the end of the entry period.

Cataclysm!!!
# Aug 01 2010 at 1:14 AM Rating: Decent
What I'm most looking forward to in Cataclysm is the fact that it in itself is a new expansion. I started playing WoW in August and I've been hooked ever since! I am kind of sad that I missed out on all of the old vanilla/BC WoW, but I've had a lot of fun soloing, grouping up with other 80s, or even trying to put together groups at level to see what it would have been like.

Other than that, I am particularly interested in seeing the new Retribution and Holy Paladin changes. My main is a Ret/Holy pally, and it seems that a lot of the changes are really going to make the Paladin class even more exciting to play. I'm tired of being told that all Retribution Paladins do is faceroll, so hopefully the changes to Retribution will be beneficial. Also, I'm excited that with the new Holy Paladin heals (and other heals, for that matter) will make the healers thing much more about where they are standing in relation to the rest of the raid and make Paladins a much more versatile healing class.

These are just a few of the things I look forward to, along with the other typical excitements of new zones, territories, races, race/class combos, etc. etc. I would love to get to try it out in the beta and give Blizz some useful feedback!

I'm exciting about:
- guild leveling
- flying in Azeroth
- changing my druid into a Troll

I hate that my guild is going to crash 'cause we won't raid 25 anymore.

Definitely looking forward to flying around the revamped old world!
Goblins
# Jul 31 2010 at 10:15 PM Rating: Decent
I cant wait to see how the goblins are made a part of the Horde and see what they blow up between 1 and 85
Oh a hunting I will go!
# Jul 31 2010 at 9:57 PM Rating: Decent
I can't wait to get to use Camouflage with my Hunter in battlegrounds so I actually can stand a chance against better geared players! Also I look for to flying over Stormwind and I guess into Ironforge...not real sure if that is going to be available but if it is it will be cool! I can't wait!!!
Lore!
# Jul 31 2010 at 9:45 PM Rating: Decent
The valiant crusaders of the Horde and the Alliance have triumphs over the ultimate evil, the Lich King; however, they are unprepared for the Cataclysm that will reshape Azeroth!

I have to say the Lore is the aspect of Cataclysm that intrigues me the most. I have always been enraptured by the deep lore the Warcraft Universe has to offer, and to be a beta tester for Cataclysm would be an honor. To be fighting side by side with new allies through strange, familiar lands; it will truly be an awe-inspiring experience. =]

I personally can't wait to start a goblin, go directly to Orgrimmar and yell: 'Could someone tell me where is Gringotts Bank please!' and see the reaction...

But seriously, I love goblins.
They are so small, yet look so evil.
You don't want to see how far you can kick them like gnomes, you actually do bets with them about how far you can kick said gnomes XD

Cataclysm Highlights
# Jul 31 2010 at 9:11 PM Rating: Decent
Super excited about leveling a new character. All the old world changes (mostly all the new horde quests in azshara and stonetalon)look fantastic. A lot of hard work went into making thousands of new exciting quests. It will be a whole new amazing experience.
Deathwing's Demise, (and seahorses! =O)
# Jul 31 2010 at 8:40 PM Rating: Decent
The thing I would say I look forward to the most are the raids. Especially, the Deepholme raid. I mean, who doesn't want the glory of bringing Deathwing's head back to Orgrimmar/Stormwind (if there's a quest for that, like Nefarion's or Onyxia's)? That, and a dragon aspect who has striken fear into the hearts of many must be one of the greatest things to slay! Talk about sport! And who knows what kind of goodies he'll be keeping for us to take? =D Also, THE SEAHORSES! It'd be interesting to experience using a mount in the underwater bastions of Vash'jir. That, and will Nesingwary be making his return? Who knows? If so, I hope he gives us some good beasties to slay!;)

Azeroth changes
# Jul 31 2010 at 8:30 PM Rating: Decent
I have been playing this game since it came out, and I am excited to see a change in azeroth where i have been repeating the same quests in the same area over and over for all my characters. I think cataclysm will make WoW seem like a new game for me even after playing for 5-6 years. I think this will be the best expansion yet but instead of adding a new map they are reconstructing what is already there, and has history behind it. It will be cool to go to a spot and think about what was there before and what happened. This will make the story line much more interesting for me. I am excited to see what happens to azeroth

I don't think there is one thing i'm not looking forward to most in Cata!
So I suppose i'll have to say, i'm looking forward to the "geek gathering" outside the game store on release (yes, i'll be there too!) or possibly my /flex to friends that i'm in the beta :p

Thanks for the oppertunity.

Beta-Key
# Jul 31 2010 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
I'm looking forward to the Old-World changes the most, I'm more of a leveling person than end-game, so it's gonna be the big attraction of the game for me. And guild perks, those look pretty sweet. In fact, the whole thing looks pretty sweet!

Also looking forward to goblins, F-YEAH GOBLINS.

I'm really looking forward to getting a beta key, Wink-Wink Nudge-Nudge.

Old zones remodeled.
# Jul 31 2010 at 7:37 PM Rating: Decent
I am mostly looking forward to seeing the old world remodeled. Having started wow during vanilla times the old continents are still my favored areas. However one hardly goes there anymore because there is nothing to do for level 80s except some ganking and achievements.
So i am really happy that blizzard is bringing new life back to the old zones.
Why I look forward to Cataclysm
# Jul 31 2010 at 7:23 PM Rating: Decent
I am looking forward to the new lore and the classic-wow-gameplay. I really hope Blizzard brings back the harder and more challenging 5-man feeling, especially on heroic. AoE'ing through 5-mans might be good to get gear fast, but everyone can get full-epic in less than a week. Epics are hopefully to become exclusive again. As of lore, I really enjoy reading the quest-logs instead of get quest -> kill stuff -> get reward. Lore keeps the game alive for me, and above all, worth playing.

Beta Key
# Jul 31 2010 at 6:29 PM Rating: Decent
I don't think I can pick one absolute favorite aspect of Cataclysm that I excited about. Every few days it seems to be something different.

I can't wait to level my hunter to 85 with the new focus instead of mana replacement. Throwing up camo in pvp will be fun to play around with.... Continue to outdps everyone in raids. I'm excited!

Level as a goblin enhance shammy and going through the initial starting zone... I heard goblins are hilarious! I've already youtubed their jokes/flirts.. too funny!

I supposed I'll roll alliance as a Worgen. Only to see how that part of the story progresses, though! I'll name him, mymainishorde. Have to show my support!
few things
# Jul 31 2010 at 6:22 PM Rating: Decent
Ok.... lets make it nice and short what i want to see in cataclysm. First is old azeroths zones been changed and also the new zones. The new races and most importantly the new talent trees. It looks really nice. Oohhh yeah....forgot to mention, HOLY COWS =)
Why I cannot wait for Cataclysm....
# Jul 31 2010 at 6:19 PM Rating: Decent
I cannot wait to play the worgen with the immersion and the starting zones that appear to rock from the looks of Cynical Brit’s videos. Just like the CB I too am way into Ancient Egypt and after seeing the exploring of the Uldum zone cannot wait to get in there and see the wonders of the world Azeroth. I am filled with great excitement and anticipation for the ability to fly all over the world that I only knew as a ground traveller but that now can see. I wonder if Stratholm will be fully visible? Dire Maul? Will there be dancing contests with the trolls between and Darkshore and Moonglade. May I get down with my funky self? YES I MAY! :-)

So If I am Lucky and so choosen I cannot wait to win a key and start my adventure.
