Stop that dragon before he kills everything!

The World of Warcraft Cataclysm beta went live on June 30th and we've got all the details on how you can get in and start taking down that dragon that's destroying everything. All you need to do is go to your Battle.net account and click on the "Manage My Games" section of your Account Management page. Then, create a beta profile in the "Beta Profile Settings."

If you're selected you'll receive a confirmation email and you will be able to verify that the game client is ready for download from your "Manage My Games" section. Blizzard will be adding new beta players weekly so if you're not selected right away, don't give up hope! To read more about the beta release go here. Good Luck!

They did the opening on June 30th, then another set of beta people a week or two later and I'm still waiting for the 3rd set of invites. Anyone got a clue as to when they will come out? Someone said they put them out every week, but I haven't seen that, or my 15 guildies either. Anyone?

I think the game will come out in September around the time that FFIV comes out. It would make sense for it to be out before blizzcon. The latest would be early October.. Geesh if they wait till november it'll have been 2 years that a hell of a lot longer than blizzard said they would go between expansions!

It could be worse it could be like other games where they release an expansion every 6 months that should have been a game update.

The last beta lasted for a good 2 months, and then a month later it was released. Gamestop has a Nov release date of 2010 and i'm thinking that that's a pretty good guess, though i wouldn't be surprized if it's released in oct.


And people if you opted in for beta there's a really good chance you'll get in, the question is when.

Blizz uses a system where they invite more people every week. The first week just a few hundred people get invited. And every week a few hundred more are invited. But the last few weeks of beta they invite thousands of people to stress test the servers, so don't give up hope till the beta is over.

Even Blizz's tech page will show you 3 Games that you can Opt-In for Beta: Diablo Universe, Starcraft Universe, and Warcraft Universe. By "Universe" are they referring not just the Warcraft Games.. but World of Warcraft as well?,,,

how long does the beta phase normally last? does this give us a firmer date as to the release of Cataclysm? as in, are the "edumacated guesses" I'll read on various fora closer to actually holding grains of truth, or will they all still be wishful thinking?

The funny thing; I cancelled my account to wait for the expac. 2 days later I get invited to the beta. /shrug I guess I don't get time away from this game.

I have never in my life been selected for a beta on anything. I signed up for it don't expect to see it till I pull it off the shelf and buy it on release day.
