In this newly released character information page, the GW2 team reveals that the Elementalist's greatest strength is her versatility

In this new video reveal, the Guild Wars 2 team discusses the powerful and versatile Elementalist, as well as the wide variety of skills she has at her disposal. The team notes that while the Elementalist has incredible offensive potential, it is her versatility that makes the Elementalist a powerful contender. As well, rather than switching weapons to adjust to each situation, the Elementalist can attune herself to any of the four elements, gaining new bonuses that continually empower her.

With the fire attunement, the Elementalist can inflict massive Area-of-Effect damage, like raining molten rock from the skies. When the Elementalist attunes to air, she can harness the powers of wind and lightning, dealing high-damage single-target attacks. If the Elementalist attunes herself to water, she forgoes the power of air and fire and focuses on controlling her opponent's movements by creating ice, or freezing her enemies solid. Finally, if the Elementalist attunes herself to earth, she uses the ground to defend both herself and her allies.

In regards to her specific spell types, the Elementalist will have glyphs, signets, conjure spells and area spells at her disposal, with glyphs enhancing or modifying the power of the Elementalist, conjure spells being used to summon useful items and potent weapons for herself and her team, area spells dealing massive magic damage to specific areas, and signets providing ongoing benefits to the Elementalist, although they can also be activated for a greater effect (for example, the Signet of Earth increases damage resistance, but activating the signet sends out a wave of stone).
