EverQuest designer Nodyin stopped by SOE's EQ Forums to let us know that yes, indeed, fabled mobs will be introduced in Planes of Power zones for this year's anniversary:

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to post and give everyone a preview of what we have planned for our next Anniversary period in March. After some research and finding a spare week lying around somewhere we decided we were going to be able to tackle the Planes of Power progression for a Fabled event after all. We've been hard at work on getting it all plugged in and we're happy to say that it looks like it's going well and we expect to be all set for the Anniversary.

A few notes about this:

  • We're going to be making a large chunk of the PoP progression "Fabled" during this time. This means these events will become a lot harder than normal so if you're working through the PoP progression normally you may need to put it on hold during this period.
  • We looked into removing the flag requirements for the various zones outside of Time iteslf but it seems like a task that's just a bit too big to fit into the schedule right now. We'll see if we can find time for it between now and the Fabled but I wouldn't count on it. That means if you are not currently able to get into all the zones but you want to be then you can take this opportunity to get some flags out of the way before the event kicks off.
  • We should have raids and group fabled content that span a wide range of power levels but it's all going to be aimed at around SoF group and raid levels.
That's all I have for now. I may not be able to answer follow up questions if we don't know the answer yet but I'll keep checking this thread and pass on whatever I can.

We're currently planning on doing Plane of Time itself as well.

The 4 tiers of content in SoF cover TSS, Solteris and 2 levels of raiding beyond Solteris. There will be more raids in the Fabled PoP that are Tier 1 than are likely found in SoF with a lot of content that is aimed at Solteris and above guilds. There will also be the same 4 tiers of content for the single group game.

content anymore seems to be all about the top end, on our server it means less tan 1 % of the guilds can do enjoy the top end of the game. To me it is the reason why we dont see new blood much, the games seeming lopsided attention level to the top end. TO be sure the top end needs new content regularly, or those veterans would stop paing dues, for me it means the top end keeps just shifting out of my reach and when i get to a level i can use the gear its old. oh well i gues that is what keeps us paying every monthh the attempt to get the good gear one day, unfortunately it appears you must do a lot of Smiley: rolleyesvery repetative dungeons, with all those coders cant we come up with adventures along the lines of the coldain ring, or shawl, where the many sesions you need to aquire an item are broken into more varied tasks? and realy REALLY the game needs content that will bring new players and make the content enjoyable at any level.

I really hope they put a few small things out there for everyone-- like the fabled grach earring, fabled fire idol... Would really blow to have everything raid level or so gimp people will outgrow it in a few levels.

i want some of what your smoking Tielovou campairing fabled time to ishva robe time is now and has always been a raid zone south karana IS NOT A RAID ZONE you will never get raid qualitity gear from a gimp one groupable of even soloable mob deal with it it people like you complaining i cant get this i cant do that /cry that are dragging this game down if you spent half as much time gaining lv's and aa's as you did whining like a 3 year old mabey you would be able to get the uber gear you cry yourself to sleep at night dreaming about untill then if something seems out of your reach then mabey you should REACH HARDER !!! it just as bad as people too lazy to do tradeskills tryng to get lastbloods nerfed

I'm all for them opening up PoP to everyone. While I understand that it will be a slap in the face to people who took the time to get flags/access, basically people who are currently buying the new all in one expansions can't utilize PoP to the fullest. With server populations so low I doubt there are guilds back flagging people for PoP. And why should they? That gear is expansions old. So opening up PoP for public access would be ok, they could keep the level restrictions at least which would at least keep/add a restriction.

I dont think Druzzil Ro has any guilds raiding at SoF level yet.Europa was our leading raiding guild but they are no longer raiding I heard.Cant say I blame them.EQ just isnt what it used to be.With all the factioning you have to do now you find yourself having to sit at the same camps for a month.It just gets old after a while.

For God's sake stop crying. Some people want to complain so bad they don't even read what they are complaining about. For a change there will be a small part of the Fabled for the higher end raiders and that is good, we haven't had any Fabled aimed at us until now.

all the old Fabled will be back so do Fabled VT if you cant do PoP. Fable PoTime should be almost the hardest thing in the game when it comes out so i think the level of difficulty is good.

I was very excited to see the PoP Fabled will be existing this year, but now it's looking like a waste of time for me and I'm sure Thousands more players.

These fabled are going to be SoF level group/raid mobs only?? So that pretty much means that if you don't have SoF quality gear by the time the Fabled are here, you don't have a single shot at getting any of it. That, to me, is just Not Fair. the Fabled are supposed to be something for the entire everquest community of players, yet the last 2 years now it's only been the Top guilds or Cheaters will be getting these items.

There used to be mobs/items for Fabled that Anyone could try for, and any group could pull together for whether you had great gear or not. Like the War event in Dreadlands, or even the 2003 Fabled events, That !@#$% "Fabled Robe of the Ishva" was not a hard mob at all, and ANYONE could have a shot for it, because average players could, and would stick around and help each other to get it. I spent 36 hours straight there waiting for a shot and helping everyone else while I waited on it. But now all that fun has long gone, now the Fabled will be too high for all of EQ's PAID customers to have a shot, and some fun for the Anniversary 2008, unless of course you are in a High-end raiding guild or have the best 6-man completely SoF geared group.

Something should be adjusted here, and I feel I am not the only one who believes that.

Tielovou, re-read the article. There will be both group and raid content. The higher end raids are the only parts of Fabled PoP that are going to be placed in the uber section (Definitely PoTime and Elemental Planes would be a good guess). Lesser named will be Fabled for anyone to enjoy, if you have the flag. Not to mention every prior expansion will be Fabled as well. There will be lots of Fabled for all people to enjoy. I think I hear a Fabled Stampeding Piglet emoting, "Squee!" :p
