Phishing Scam - Beware!

I just received an e-mail from "WotLK Development Team" that looks very much like an official Blizzard e-mail. If you've ever gotten something from Blizzard beyond a bland "thanks for reporting this gold farmer" type message, you know the one I mean with the brown parchment background. It asks you to go to a link that appears as http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wotlkbeta, but actually sends you to the URL http://wowtlk-beta.awardspace.co.uk/index.html, which promptly asks for your account name and password. It will thank you even for giving false info and then ask for your CD code for verification.

Remember, Blizzard will never ask you for your password to your account.

Click the link below to see the text of the e-mail.

Greetings,

Horny orcs and other warcraft creatures **** real girls

A must see for every fan. True collectors items. Real movies with real actors like in LotR. No 3D animations and the real weird action. If you don´t see it with your eyes, you don´t believe it!

the link redirects to nothing now, at least nothing looking anything like a blizzard login screen..

Also, a really good way to see a scam in emails like this are to just look at where the link leads to (rightclick the link and click on properties, it will give you the url for the link) .. most scams like this don't even try to cover that info up with the exception of renaming the link from it's actual URL addy to an address that looks legit ..

ie. this link in the email posted above is named http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wotlkbeta to make it look like it's the actual URL of the link, but actually its a link that was renamed (much like you see in emails that you can click on that read 'CLICK HERE!'), the actual URL the link above is http://wowtlk-beta.awardspace.co.uk/index.html4

obviously nothing blizzard would have

Beware of similar things like this on YouTube. I saw a text vid of a "commercial" for beta testing, and I think it took you to this or a similar website. They also have numerous videos giving instructions on how to "hack" other peoples accounts, but all it is a scam to send your info to Blizzards gmail or yahoo email accounts.

I have reported a few of these as inappropriate while looking through YouTube for various machinimas. I think the people who do them are scum, but at the same time, I question the intelligence of the person sending the account information to a gmail account thinking its a blizzard rep. And since that person is trying to hack an account, and thus gets hacked, they probably get what they deserve.
Site down.

I just went to that website, just to see what's going on. As of the date/time of this post the website has been taken down by AWARDSPACE. The page now shows up briefly as a 403 Unauthorized before you're re-directed to AWARSPACE's homepage. Just the same, keep your eyes open for BS e-mails like this one. Where there's one, there'll probably be more to follow.
Weird.

How would they get the information in the first place to send you an email..?
Weird.

They got me on this. The hacks wiped my account and thankfully I got everything back. I guess I shouldn't wow when I am mildly intoxicated.
