FINAL FANTASY XI Update (Jul. 19)

Wow, this thing is huge. [Event-Related] *A new chapter has been added to "Chains of Promathia." *A new quest called "The Fellowship Quest" has been added. Upon completion of this quest, the player will receive an item used to call an NPC. -The NPC may not be called during NPC escort quests, but may be used along with beastmasters' pets, summoners' avatars, and dragoons' wyverns. -The NPC may only be called in certain field areas. -The NPC may fight monsters, gain experience, and level up with the player. -A player fighting with an NPC fellow will receive only 70% of the usual experience points gained for solo battles. -The NPC may be called only when there are less than six members in the player's group. A party may contain a maximum of three NPC fellows, along with the three players who have called them. -If the NPC's level exceeds that of the player, its status will be adjusted to match the player's level. -The NPC's equipment will occasionally change after fighting several battles. -The NPC will leave if the player: -temporarily logs out to PlayOnline -logs out -enters a different area -is KO'd -All NPCs in a party will leave if the party attempts to increase its total number of players and NPCs to seven. *Several new quests have been added, including: -A quest in which the player may acquire headgear that resembles various beastmen -Rematches with mammets and the Mithran sin hunters And more! *An NPC that tells the player's fortune regarding titles and other "elements" has been added in Mhaura. *Character title selection has been changed in the following ways: -It now costs less gil to change a player's title. Also, it now costs no gil at all to check the player's list of available titles. -The NPC bard that changes player titles will now sing out the player's title just before changing it. -After changing the player's title, the NPC bard will sing out the new title. Nearby PCs will also be able to hear the new title. -The player will now have the option to have a random title selected for him or her at no cost once each day (Earth time). -Titles earned by defeating NMs are now available for selection not just at Selbina and Mhaura, but also at Kazham and Rabao. *A chocobo riding game has been added. The player must deliver a chocobo from the chocobo stables where the quest was offered to a designated nation. *Players are now able to talk to an NPC and check the remaining time until they are able to reenter the battlefield for the ENM quests "Pulling the Strings" and "Automaton Assault." *"Return Ring" and "Homing Ring" have been added to the list of items that may be earned by exchanging conquest points. *If a player has completed the quests to get a pair of Mannequin Pumps or a Minstrel's Dagger but disposed of the item he earned, the player may now reacquire the item at the same place he attained it. *Mythril Plate Armor has been added to the list of equipment that may be stored as a key item. *A new NPC that will trade items for treasure earned by defeating Lumorian monsters has been added. [Battle-Related] *Players are now able to earn experience from monsters of a wider level range than previously possible. Experience points earned by defeating "decent challenge" and "easy prey" monsters will also increase in some instances. *Experience chain bonuses in level-restricted areas of Chains of Promathia are now determined by the level of the player while in that area, rather than the player's actual level. *Monster locations have been adjusted, particularly in Chains of Promathia areas. The following areas will be affected: Bibiki Bay, Uleguerand Range, Attohwa Chasm, Newton Movalpolos, Promyvion – Holla, Promyvion – Dem, Promyvion – Mea, Promyvion – Vahzl, Lufaise Meadows, Phomiuna Aqueducts, the Sacrarium, Riverne – Site #A01, Riverne – Site #B01, the Garden of Ru'Hmet, Ro'Maeve, the Boyahda Tree, the Den of Rancor, the Shrine of Ru'Avitau, Kuftal Tunnel *The damage and accuracy of a player's ranged attack are now calculated based on the distance of the player from the monster. This determination varies from weapon to weapon, as does the ideal distance for maximum damage. In addition, the higher the monster's level is with regard to the player, the less damage will be dealt with a ranged attack. *The player's enmity now decreases when a shadow image created by Utsusemi is absorbed by an attack. *Weather will no longer have an effect on the distance a player can be detected for monsters that detect based on the use of magic. *Several new notorious monsters have been added. *Creatures summoned by monsters (excluding elementals) have had their names changed to "(Monster's name)'s Avatar" for consistency. *The strength of monster techniques has been adjusted, particularly in Chains of Promathia areas. *A player who is KO'd, revived, then while still in a weakened state KO'd again will now, after a second reviving, temporarily experience a weakened attack and accuracy loss for magic and ranged attacks. *Before the update, a player who fought a monster without using auto-attack would retain his claim on the monster, even if he was KO'd in battle due to poison, etc. This has been fixed so that when the player dies, the monster becomes unclaimed. *Before the update, a monster that was claimed by a party or alliance would occasionally go unclaimed when magic or a weapon skill was used on the monster as the monster moved out of range before the magic or weapon skill could strike. [Item-Related] *Trading a wijnruit and 99 ninja tools to a certain NPC can now earn the player a toolbag. This item may be gathered in stacks of twelve, essentially increasing the player's ninja tool inventory capacity twelvefold. *New synthesis recipes have been added. *Prices at guilds have been changed to reflect the amount of each item the guild currently has in stock. The cost may rise to a maximum of five times the original price. *Some of the treasure items earned from notorious monsters in the Boyahda Tree have been changed. *The way that the following items are acquired has been changed: Archer Ring, Leaping Boots, Emperor Hairpin, Peacock Charm In addition, players may receive an EX/Rare or EX item with the same attributes from the monsters who previously dropped each of the above items. *The effects of the following items have been altered: Poison Potion, Venom Potion, Paralyze Potion, Sleeping Potion, Silencing Potion, Blinding Potion, Vitriol, Instant Warp, Bastok Mines gate glyph, Bastok Markets gate glyph, Port Bastok gate glyph, Eastern San d'Oria gate glyph, Western San d'Oria gate glyph, Northern San d'Oria gate glyph, Windurst Waters gate glyph, Port Windurst gate glyph, Windurst Woods gate glyph, New Year's gift, Cantarella, Black Drop, Muting Potion, Invitriol, Warp Cudgel, Trick Staff II, Treat Staff II, Teleport ring: Holla, Teleport ring: Dem, Teleport ring: Mea, Teleport ring: Vahzl, Teleport ring: Yhoat, Teleport ring: Altep, Memento Muffler, Gargoyle Boots, Zoolater Hat, Root Sabots, Aries Mantle, Anubis's Knife, Oscar Scarf, Kinkobo, Carpenter's Belt, Blacksmith's Belt, Goldsmith's Belt, Weaver's Belt, Tanner's Belt, Boneworker's Belt, Alchemist's Belt, Culinarian's Belt, Fisherman's Belt, Counter Earring, Tactical Ring, Wing Gorget, Healing Feather, Spirit Lantern, Astral Pot, Homing Ring, Return Ring, Absorbing Shield, Tavnazian Ring, Ducal Guard's Ring, Maat's Cap, Kingdom Stables Collar, Republic Stables Medal, Federation Stables Scarf, Cursed Beverage, Cursed Soup *The item "Timepiece" has been added to the list of special items a player may receive 100 days after participating in the Vana'diel Adventurer Recruitment Program. *The following item names have been changed in the English version: Panzer Mask -> Panther Mask Panzer Mask +1 -> Panther Mask +1 Amemit Mantle -> Amemet Mantle Amemit Mantle +1 -> Amemet Mantle +1 *The item name "Comet" has been changed to "Little Comet." *An attribute of the following item has been changed: Darksteel Pick +1 Delay:312 -> Delay:303 [System-Related] *Region Info may now be viewed from all areas. *Messages may no longer be sent using /tell to a player on the user's blacklist. *Along with the introduction of the Fellowship Quest, players may now combine text commands with to target their NPC fellows and execute their desired actions. [Other Content] *The following changes have been made to Ballista. -If one side of an official match is low on members, entry into that force is now possible even if a match is already underway. In this case, experience may still be gained if certain conditions are met, just as if the player had entered the match from the start. Also, if a player enters during a match, both forces will receive a message notifying them of the new entry. The player must have the following in order to enter a match already underway: -A Ballista License -Enough gil to enter the match -The minimum level required for the match being played -A player who has just entered an official match or a match in Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba that was already underway will temporarily be placed under "Preparing for Battle" status. -Players may now borrow the key items "Ballista Earring" and "Ballista Band" free of charge from the Pursuivant in Ru'Lude Gardens. Ballista Earring: When in possession of this item, the player will receive information about the next Ballista match and the entry registration time when entering San d'Oria, Bastok, Windurst, or Jeuno from one day prior to the match (Vana'diel time) until the end of the entry period. Ballista Band: When in possession of this item, the player will be given the choice of whether to keep or throw away the first Petra he quarries. Ownership of a Ballista License is not required to borrow the above items. The player may return the items simply by speaking to a Pursuivant. -Players are no longer able to adjust Petra selection settings in Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba. The player will be given the option of what to do with the first Petra quarried only when in possession of the new key item "Ballista Band." -The following rules have been changed from special rules to standard rules. -Camp locations will change when the number of participants in a match is 40 or less. -The number of Rooks will be reduced to two when there is a significant difference in the number of players on each side. -Players will now receive experience points for participating in an official match. -The system of "Open Entry" for official matches, in which all adventurers were allowed to join the force with the smallest number of participants, has been done away with and replaced by a system called "Temporary Entry," in which players may join a force regardless of allegiance. However, the player's entry is temporary, and similar to Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba's "Auto-Balance" feature, the players may be redistributed for balance when the match begins. -In Ru'Lude Gardens, the player will be able to view Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba's reservation status. Reservations for the next two days (Earth time) will be shown. -The NPC Tillecoe will now inform the player of the match's level restriction when a match at Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba is set to allow general participation. -Temporary items will now be distributed at the start of official matches held at the Pashhow Marshlands. -A section of the Ballista rulebook that is read out by the Pursuivant has been changed. -The rate of success for Foe Lullaby and Horde Lullaby has been lowered for players with bard as a support job. -A limit has been imposed on the amount of HP that can be absorbed by Bloody Bolts' HP Drain effect during Ballista.

They are making the drops from the same mobs that dropped those items Rare/Ex or just Ex.

It means you can't camp Valkurm Emperor, for example, over and over and sell more than one Hairpin; the one you get cannot be traded or sold, so you either keep it or trash it.

A good red mage has the most active in party job in this game. Going nin doesn't mean the rdm is being lazy. Often enough with nin it's easier to get higher chains since they simply take ls damage. Or other times the rdm has to take over the healing responsibility, nuking on chains, hasting, refreshing all mages, and healing everyone. Often my parties setup with nin tank are far faster on xp if they are skilled, but are more tiring with more work to be done. Especially if the nin is the lazy one not doing any enfeebling ninjitsu to hold hate or help debuff.

Hey everyone! Im glad that SE is actually putting in some effort in this update, and not just making a half hearted effort to better their product. Since my main job is PLD, I am glad to hear about the hate adjustments to Utsemi. Now I hope that Ninjas will be able to take on a different role and I might actually get a chance to party with one ^^.
RE: Cool Update
# Jul 18 2005 at 11:30 PM Rating: Decent
I don't think Ninja was intended to be a Tank, people just made em that way. I agree 100% with the fact nin was that support char people would look for, someone who could range, cast spells with no MP loss or pull for a pt with no thf or pull with party with thf who wants to SATA more. Point is we might actually see what a nin can actually do now that SE has made it so that they go back to what they were when first introduced.

Food for thought ---> anytime you see a nin in anothing, movie, tv, or cartoon (anything) does a ninja just run head on and stand in open taking damage (like using provoke) or does it hide in the "Shadows" and kill things w/o drawing attn to itself?

Hai~ Although Ninz really arent tanks to begin with... >.>
spam shurikens pull nice hate.. if accuracys low sub rng for the kill
sub blm spam ninjutsu
but overall nins were intended to be pullers/light damage dealers so renas not suprised the hate loss maybe now the real skill will shine

I read somewhere that translated additional information posted on the Japanese site, where they went into more detail on the length of the update. It has to do with upgrading the actual server equipment. So, hopefully, they'll be able to deal with some of the lag that we've been getting hit with recently (especially on Ragnarok).

Argus is still a 24-36 hour pop or what ever, and Leech King still drops 2 mil+ or - depending on server drop. Gil sellers can camp him, when they kill, resets timer, good bye 12 hours camping. as for lizzy, w/e +3 ag and dex is no big deal, if u dont get invited to pt cuz u dont have +5 acc then thats the retarded ldrs fault.

ok nin will have no problems keeping hate so long they use their magic and vokes. just because they lose aggro with each hit means nothing. a pld loses hate every time also so not a lot will bother nin . they will still make good tanks^^
Pretty good update!

This update seems promising in several areas. 1 being the issue of the rare/ex items that will be dropped from those NMs. 2 Ranged Attacks being slightly adjusted, I wouldn't call it nerfed, its more or less evening out the dmg ratio of rngs vs. melee. I am a 60rng so it will be an adjustment in playing style and will also be more even for other melee/dd jobs seeking party at later levels. I'm also a 70thf and seeking for hours on end is a bit annoying when I jump on rng and get party in several minutes. I know what its like on both sides so this should level the playing field a bit. Also the new quest "The Fellowship Quest" will be interesting to see if the NPC characters AI will be worth haveing alongside you or just a pain in the rear and pull aggro from mobs that you have no business dealing with at your level. lol
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 18 2005 at 10:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) gotta say, its nice they are doin somethin about those RMTcamped nms, what about sky? on Garuda sky is filled with RMT camping, MPKing, etc and theyve beaten kirin now, i'm somewhat curious why they go through the trouble, and yet it bothers me.. there WOULDNT BE RMT if some of the idiots playing didnt buy GIL so if you are one of them and complaining just get a life, other than that this update looks fun, im glad i've gotten rng so high (67) shouldnt be a great deal of dmg drop 70+, but i <3 NIN tanks, perhaps it will just add to the fun of nin rather than killin its role as a tank, although im sure 60+ with a thf's assasin trait there won't be a big issue, if the nin is actually skilled, well time to spend 3 hours DLing this file if i can log on to POL....

<All Right!> Update time, can you feel the excitement? Is your brain flooded with questions about the new stuff?

Ok the good...
Quote:
*Several new quests have been added, including:
-A quest in which the player may acquire headgear that resembles various beastmen

Oh man, I am so excited about this. Who is your most hated Beastman race? Everyone will answer this question as they sport the head of an Orc, Quad, Goblin, Demon, etc. Personally, no beastman race has killed me more than the Goblins. I still have yet to face Demons, and Tonberries. But these two races would have to kill me an insane amount of times to catch up to the gobbies. Now I can don the head from the fallen corpse of a gob, and finally show these guys who's boss. Man I can't wait to get mine!
Quote:
*Character title selection has been changed in the following ways:

Whoa, you can change your title!? Before the update you could do this!? Wow, there is still so much I don't know about this game. I even almost started a thread titled "We should be able to change our title's once they have been obtained." I thought all those traveling brds we're just a waste of gil to relive a previous sequence. Cool! Now I can still build fame without carrying around title's such as "Mommy's Helper."
Quote:
*The player's enmity now decreases when a shadow image created by Utsusemi is absorbed by an attack.
I'm not going to get into this, but it's a good thing. VERY good.
Quote:
*Prices at guilds have been changed to reflect the amount of each item the guild currently has in stock. The cost may rise to a maximum of five times the original price.

Yes!! Anyone from Alexander know Troll? He's an annoying Galka that camps the Blacksmiths guild in Metal Works like clockwork, and he almost always buys out all the Bronze Ingots then sells them at the AH. Kiss his *** goodbye, or do what I did, and boot his big gray galka butt out da door.

The HUH!!??
Quote:
*A player who is KO'd, revived, then while still in a weakened state KO'd again will now, after a second reviving, temporarily experience a weakened attack and accuracy loss for magic and ranged attacks.

Wha!? After being KO'd the second time? How about the first? And why just ranged and magical attacks? Why not everything? Melee attacks, defense, magical defense, everything. Further more, how about changing it so that if you get KO'd while in a weakened state the player will recieve a massive reduction in exp loss, or no exp loss at all. Dying twice in 2 minutes, I can pop kernals off of my noggin.

All in all good update.

Hate to tell you, but increasing guild store price on limited quantity items is a terrible idea. There will still be people camping guild stores, buying the two-stack per day items within 10 seconds of the store's opening. And now the price increase might very well be passed onto AH.

Good example of this would be tarutaru rice (used in most sushi recipies). Only way to obtain said rice is either through gardening, from the culinary guild in windy waters, or from AH. With such a limited supply, rice prices jumped from 500-1000g stack before cooking update to 7k-8k per stack once sushi was introduced. Will be interesting to see if sushi prices increase even more...
RE: So the update is here
# Jul 18 2005 at 11:30 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, in the case of Bronze Ingots, it costs me 4.5-5k to make a stack of these, with the majority of the cost spent on crystals. They currently sell for 12k in the AH. Even with Copper and Tin ores going 5 times their normal price, it will still be way cheaper to make these than buy them on AH.

A stack of Ingots can be bought from the guild for a little over 1k, dirt cheap. Now, the cost for a stack of these will yield profits from AH somewhere around <too weak to be worthwhile>. The cost will probably go up like you say, but then most ppl will get smart and just make their own.

But who knows, can go either way I guess. We'll just have to see
RE: So the update is here
# Jul 18 2005 at 10:26 PM Rating: Decent
this is be cause a ranger or blm can still do considerable damage while weakened and still manage not to get hit. a melee on the other hand may not take that risk as they are more likely to die if they grab hate. in anycase, if you die twice within a weakened state, then clearly there is a problem.
RE: So the update is here
# Jul 18 2005 at 11:09 PM Rating: Decent
That's what I meant about the first time. Why wait till the second time to gimp magic and ranged attacks? You're right, dying twice in 2 minutes, something's wrong. But it happens, especially in the leveling zones where overcrowded zones can cause a weakened player to fall again by an AoE by a mob from an adjacent party.

I've seen this happen from rabbits in the dunes (I know, crazy), and especially from Doom Scorpions in CN. But the biggest cause is usually due to the weakened player going afk the entire duration of his/her weakness.

And a rng or blm that decides to still participate in battle while weakened has got a some crazy kind of death wish, or is a pro at knowing how hate works, and knows how NOT to get it.
Crafting nerf
# Jul 18 2005 at 10:17 PM Rating: Decent
Why does SE insist on Nerfing synthing? This is not the first update that has done something to ***** crafters. It's pretty near impossible to make any profit as it is. On Pandy, prices are so inflated, that unless you HQ, you make no profit whatsoever. It's usually break even minus the cost for crystals. Now they have to go raising prices of guild items? Great. Well, that's my two cents worth

In my experience, with the exception of a few synths, this is the way it has always been, since day one.
RE: Crafting nerf
# Jul 18 2005 at 11:08 PM Rating: Decent
This time, its not really a synthing nerf. For some item (ones that can only be found in guild store and AH) it will hurt a bit. However, this is a new way to try and deter some of the shop campers. In the long run it could go either way: driving prices up, or down... just depends on the laziness of the campers.

ok all you all asking the price hikes on items. why would anyone in their right minds pay millions for an item they can get an exsact effect on a rare/ex item for free? im hoping the price hiking will go down.

there will be rare/ex items and non rare/ex item which do exsactly the same thing, only methods of obtaining them will vary. SE should do this for every useful high demand items. sometimes i wish SE had a much closer relationship with its players(like an official FF11 website hosted by SE much like every other MMO). i mean SE has no idea what players need and want and would like to have done so they do changes like this based on almost nothing. i mean this game has been out for two years and now they decide that more viable methods of obtaining those items are needed? in anything you really can live without those items so dont blow ur head veins over it.

Hrm... I can think of two reasons, at least with the ARCHER Rings.

For one, Sniper's are much better than Archers. If the new item is on the level of Archer rings, it's going to be practically useless. Nobody will camp it, and Stroper Chyme will have a long, healthy life in Ordelle's.

Also, if the rings are Rare/Ex, then you can only have one anyways- whereas you can have two Sniper's. So, people will pay the gil... because they pretty much have to.

They *could* try camping the NM themselves... but that brings in the oh-so-wonderful flame topic, Gil-sellers, who perma-camp the NM. Endless hours HOPING to get the pull, and, if you're lucky enough to actually get the mob, you have to hope you get the DROP, and don't get MPK'ed by the gil-sellers.
RE: ...
# Jul 18 2005 at 10:24 PM Rating: Decent
A. people dont like camping NMs, they just hate it for some reason
B. Lots of people will probably go camp because they want the new rare/ex item, thus there will be alot of competion anyway

SE cant just do whatever the players want, making every item that was high in demand EX would suck. You would have to go kill monsters for all the items to make your job the best it can be.

Most are NMs, so everyone has to camp them to get items they "need" for their job, GL getting a claim, and lets be generous and say you need to do this 4 times in 20 levels

Not everyone has even 3 hours to spend playing the game, so if the NMs were even 100% drops (which they should be in that situation), it might take someone a month just to get the items they need to level
Its all just speculation

Three Points in response to your extremely biased opinion:

1) Refresh has a duration, if your Paladin is running out of MP and is refreshed constantly and is still complaining, he needs to stop and rethink just exactly how much he knows about this game.

2) The more a Ninja has to use tools for Elemental and Debuff Ninjutsu spells, the faster he burns through his stacks, if you are casting as many spells as RDM as you claim at your level, you are drawing a significant amount of enmity and you are hastening the loss of your NIN to a trip to town for more tools, or possibly leaving the party altogether.

3) In a correctly balanced party with at a WHM, your job will be extremely simple...Keep refresh on people with an MP bar, and the WHM worries about the party HP bars...you are then free to cast your enfeebs and Magic Burst on skillchains...which imho is a waste for RDM given the cost of Elemental Magic and the fact that RDM do a great deal less damage than BLM on any burst even with gears specifically for casting Elemental.

Please. Do not take this as a personal insult or flaming, because that is not how it is intended. Context is an exorcise in perception, I am merely offering this as an opinion based on experience and as constructive criticism. If i offended you in in way I sincerely apologize. /bow

im a 57RDM, while i do have a dislike of PLDs and would prefer a NIN, my dislike of them stems from crapy plds who run their mouths and have an ego the size of mount rushmore. if u r a pld and dont have that trait and dont wine consistently about everything then im good. bottom line is im sad to see NIN go bye bye as a tank, and i hope all PLDs out there strive to be the best they can be, and not insist on complaining about refresh especially when they complain while im casting it on them. anyway sry about the rant lol, ive seen great PLDs and ive seen bad PLDs, bottom line is i hope that ALL PLDs will strive to be better and pls if u have an inflated ego let it go remember its only a game and we are all there to have fun =)

Its not that PLD's cant keep hate, they are the best for that. What I am referring to is with a NIN tank I could main heal, nuke, enf, refresh and DD so much easier. Now because PLD's take DMG and lots of it it will be much harder to do that. Also meaning exp will go slower cause Ill have to rest mp all the time as will the other mages. As you should know, we RDM's at this lvl dont exactally have a boatload of mp ^^

I PT'ed in Onzozo at lvl 61 with a PLD tank and we did not rest for a second. Refresh was always up on PLD, WHM, BLM, and the RDM. Always in that order. As a RDM you can enjoy of Convert ability, so I cast Refresh last on myself. If you keep Refresh up, you shouldn't have an issue with your MP and having a PLD tank. PLD tanks RULE on hate control.

I like either tank. im a 70 pld and a 62 rdm. so i can see it from both sides. and well.. witha good pld in a good exp area, i can main heal nuke enfeeble and all that fun stuff. and i dont run out of mp that easy, did i mention i was elvaan? mp isnt that great on us. well in comparison. Anyhow, really shouldnt care as much a party is a party. lol other night.. i didnt have a rdm or bard in a level 69-71 party. setup: SMN, PLD, MNK, THF, BLM THF. got 3-4k an hour, decent party, better than some of the parties ive had with this setup, rdm, nin, war, thf, blm, blm. i seem to have gotten those alot for somereason.. but just goes to show.. nothing is as it seems. just try to have fun lol. And besdies.. Ninjas werent built as tanks anyhow.. they were enfeebler/back up DD, this will give people more of a chance to level ninja in a different way i believe.

As RDM u should cast refresh on yourself first, so u wont forget to cast refresh on next people after that, or still aware that recast timer already up

For example, if u have 100 mp, whm 100 mp, pld 100 mp

and u start with urself, and whm and pld, when u casting at paladin (3rd person) u may have extra ur 40 mp back (from refresh)

but if u start with pld, whm and u, when u start casting at urself (3rd person)u mp will be 10

just my 2 cents, and that what rdm 101 wrote in alla job forums

war/nins dot really make good tanks till AF body. secondly all this means is that NIns will have to find new strategies to keep hate. also, NINs were never really meant to tank it just became practical to have a tank who isnt mana dependent, but the whole mana dependance can be fixed with a bard, but often times bards arent around. there is no mistake that NINs have a hard time keeping hate but it remains to be seen of how big of a setback it is. i certainly would like to see NINs lose their tanking image and be given a new role. personally a nuking nin (nin/blm) with a couple levels of magic attack would be a formidable damage dealer.....but very very expensive, no doubt thats what SE intended in the firstplace and this is their pathetic attempt to gear it that way. but you know what they say, old habbits die hard.

thats interesting, i heard the REAL way ninjas are supposed to keep hate, was to be skilled and know how to use the "elemental wheel"
(personally i dont know what this is, but i would have to assume that it is useing the :Ni elemental spells in order that will make each one as effective as possible)
This was too inventory tasking because you would need multiple stacks of each elemental tool, +shihei and all the other tools

BUT, now that ninja tools can be bundled, it should be much easier to hold all the tools that will be needed
yay!

prices?
# Jul 18 2005 at 9:53 PM Rating: Decent
ok why do you all care about the prices going up on these items it the rare/ex items are basicly going to be the same item just you cant sell them if you guys cared about the prices does that mean your going to buy them? you would be better off getting these drops so you dont have to spend millions of gil on the original drops

ok let me get this right... the update for the nm drops... take Leaping Lizzy for example.... no when u kill Leaping Lizzy instead of geting Leaping boots your going to get a diffrent rare/exe item that has the exact same traits right? if this is true... dose that mean Leaping Boot prices are going to skyrocket or drop drasticley? secondley im on slyph so if thats the case BY BY SLY<place number here> you get to camp another dam mob hahahaha ???? all 6 of u :P

ok im done now ^.^
wat
# Jul 18 2005 at 9:47 PM Rating: Decent
are you kidding, prices will go up on all of these items
RE: wat
# Jul 18 2005 at 10:45 PM Rating: Decent
Wrong. The people who have the leapping boots, Emp pin and Peacocks charm will sell them and camp for the rare-ex item. Then they will use the gil to buy the other armor/wepons they couldnt afford. I figure the prices will fall by as much as 50% eventually. The archers ring, well its used in syth so the price wont fall that much.

I think you're right... the prices will probably go up. I wonder if this just made the problem worse. Since the item might be rare/ex or ex, there will be less of the normal ones for sale. So the price will go up, so more people will camp the mob in hopes of getting the non rare/ex or ex item so they can sell it. Then there's going to be the people there that just want the item. Too much thinking involved... it could probably go either way, the prices up or down. It all depends (I think) on how the first people to get the items react. Or how the buyers at AH react. I need to stop thinking... my head hurts...
RE: wat
# Jul 18 2005 at 10:04 PM Rating: Decent
If they do and people buy them then those people are idiots if they can just camp for rare/ex items with the same stats.
thank you ^^
