Why does it take 5 minutes (really - no joking) for the pather to appear on my screen after I double click the EQ icon?

tried to install updated driver but no luck. after install and restart of computer it said that can not support driver(or something like that) and please insert WIN 98 disc?

i dont even want to be a freakin cat. the only decent thing i can forsee the beastlord accomplishing is to be another class for druids to whine about KSing from them in everfost as they attempt to kite every mammoth in the zone. OMG somebody help me, im outta mana and my snare just faded! die druid die! muhahaha

I just have one comment and its a pretty long one :). I think verant/sony/whoever is pushing the technology envelope a little too far for comfort on this one. One thing bothering me is the apparent lack of support for video chipsets supported on the original eq box. I realize for many people with relatively recently purchased desktop/home computers this is of no/or little concern but there are also many people who use workstation monitors on their home PCs - since simply stated these monitors are huge can be found for discounts and rock :). However, the video driving those monitors is often not based on the latest radeon or geforce chipset and such; or if there is one its probably harder to find and more expensive to upgrade than for home/desktop PCs. And of course maybe a better question is: should people really spend a lot of money upgrading their computer system to play a game.

I like the idea of verant revamping the game but I really get the impression they are trying to push the technology envelope too far right now. Today I found myself ordering 512Mb of ram, a new hard drive to speed up performance, and even considered tossing/replacing my quite fine for pretty much every single application 16Mb TNT based video card. I dont know how anyone else feels and I realize memory is cheap - but 512Mb is well I think unprecedented/and a little too much to demand of a desktop/home system. I'm not a computer/electronics expert and buyng the proper memory for my computer wasd a little daunting - I imagine it is much more frightening for many other EQ players.

Some of the posts here (IT SAY'S I HAVE NO 3D DEVICE...IS TE 3D DEVICE DIRECT X???I'M LOST.....I KNO NOTING ABOUT COMPUTERS....ALL I KNO IS EQ....HELP ME), (just got off work, patch wont load, since my computer doesnt meet minimum requirements will i not be able to play again. plz help) really elude to what looks like it could become an "upgrade or die" philosophy which i hope verant/sony/eq/whoever do not adopt to readily. Im sure there are alternative venues to improving/modifying the game so that those without cutting edge technology could continue playing instead of being forced to forfeit their accounts. From the looks of the posts above these are issues sony/verant/whoever should address very quickly - as I think many had the impression that if they did not buy/install SOL they would still be able to play the "old EQ" just fine.
