Great. Now there will be even more pressure to level up to whatever the new cap is (70 I would imagine) and encounters will be even more trivialized. Way to go SoE.. Why not just make it so we all start out at level 65+, all AA and epic since they're putting so much into hand holding the end game crowd. A lot of it is just the threat of WoW taking away all their customers.. Instead of worrying about new zones, new levels and what not they should be worrying about getting some real customer service and more GM's, maybe even fixing some of the existing bugs in the game.. Would only make sense considering how much most of us have paid for all this.

You might not have seen this, but there is part in there about low lvl tasks, The exp and loot will suck, but they didn't forget use casual players that are in lvl 30's hell completely:)

I have bought every expansion...as they were released....

    EQ: $49.99
    RoK: $29.99
    SoV: $29.99
    SoL: $29.99
    PoP: $29.99
    LoY: $29.99
    LDoN:$29.99
    GoD: $29.99

    Total: $232.92 plus tax
Add in the monthly fee of $9.95 from the date I bought EQ til the rate change..Appoximately $375.00
Current charge of $12.95 from change til present...about $325.00...

Over $900.00 in the past 5 years....and they have to squeeze another $29.99 out of us 2 MONTHS before EQ2.....sad SoE...sad

Dude this computation of yours is lacking, and I think the others have pointed it out to you. But I will add mine. Before EQ, I was buying at least one video game a month for one of my systems. Lets say 50$, not including the machines themselves, or the memory cards or any of that stuff. thats 600$ a year, and I am coming up on 3 years, which is 1800$ saved not buying a game which I will spend about 40 hours on(for which I play at least twice that much on EQ) and then once I am done throwing it in a closet and never playing it again once I have "beaten it". I have always said EQ was a better buy, and with a constant changing scenery, the ability to play different types of classes/races and the evolving story line, you cannot even begin to compare the two.

A friend of mine did a comparison of his finances between 2002 and 2003....

in 2002 when he was playing Everquest, he spent a total of 700 dollars in the month of february. Thats counting eating out, grocery shopping, movies, gas, everything except consistant bills (utilities, rent, etc)..

In 2003 during the month of february he spent 11k partying with his friends, getting drunk, eating out, enjoying life otherwise. These aren't made up numbers, they are real =P

in 2004 he reactivated his EQ account "I found it to be affordable to play EQ vs having a life"

$900 over 5 years and your complaining?

You do realize that all things considered, since you can play for as long as you want as long as your account is up to date your more than getting your monies worth.

Lets look at another common form of entertainment - movies - rentals and in the theater.

There are 52 weeks in a year - so in 5 years thats 260 weeks.

If you rented a the movie or video game every weekend - We'll say on average you'll spend about $5.00 a movie.
$5.00 x 260 weeks = $1,300.00 in 5 years. (and if you watched movies, you would get about 390 hours of enjoyment unless you watched the movies twice.)

If you went to the movies, on average you'll spend $7.50 for tickets (assuming you made it to matenee once in a while) and $4.00 for at least a soda.

    260 weeks x $13.50 = $3,510.00

Now this isn't saying that you should only play EQ for your entertainment, rather its saying that EQ is a pretty decent deal.

If you play on average 10 hours a week (or 2,600 hours in 5 years) and you paid about $950 (I'll up it a bit) then your paying $0.37 an hour to play...

and you can save even more money if you had bought your subscription for a 6 month span instead of 1 month.
