Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

on the everquest wensite it says each server will come down one at a time..for aprrox 20 minutes than they move to the next..second it says that if you r recieveing a 3d device error the site says you need to double check which version of directx 8 you r running and to upgrade to 8.1 check for yourselves

Anyone know when, why and what in the **** they plan on doing while the servers are down? How long they spose to be down? (use Verant ******** calculating method....1hour>=5hours)

Well I have downloaded all the files (about 2 hours), AND I downloaded DirectX 8.1. Yet still I get "3D device not found", So unless there additional files to be downloaded OR there is still patches to be added, I am shut out of the game.

Just to let you all know, I finally finishes downloading all the files and I went online. No crashes or anything, even when I created a Vah Shir. To fill you in, if you have the Luclin expansion the new char textures are nice, but the environment textures are great. Much better than I thought. Of course, in exchange for this, I zone about 3 times slower than before, and I'm on cable. Oh well. Anyway, after it is all said and done, I think it will be worth it. Most people will be pleased when things go back to normal, and this terrible two day event will be all but forgotten.

Yeah , I have a top of the line computer too , took me forever to zone and the lag was horrible in some zones , So we knows its just not on our side, It was like this on the initial rlease some 3 years ago too , it will take about a week then all will be ok in our little world again

Ok, I got my patches, got my directx 8.1. Game tells me i got no 3D device. Whats up with that? I got an nvidia tnt 64 model 64.

Okay, it only took 10 minutes to load the files, THANK YOU DSL! To find that I get the "NO 3D devices found" message. You mean I can't even play the regular old game?!?!?!

umm okay plz tell me verant isnt going to take the servers offline 30 minutes after i get to log on after waiting 24+hours, these guys are a bunch of **** ups plain and simple

I agree I finally get on and start to play having no problems (surprised) and now they say opps you aren't allowed on yet get off so that we can mess up your playing ability and screen like everyone else because its not fair that you are having no problems. I want to play!!!!

Ok...finally made it in! Yay! /em cheer. WOOT!

...at least until I got to the character select screen...

The problem I have at the moment is that a portion of my screen is now superimposed-over by what seems to be the first 1/4th or so of the screen. Basically, part of my screen is covered by another part. ARGH!!! Anyone else have this problem or a solution for it? Most likely, I need a new graphics card...*sigh*...

*grumble* new graphics card...need to upgrade from 256 (of which, only 240 is recognized, wtf!?) to 512...and I STILL have to buy the fackin' expansion lol...

Pepper your the man.. downloaded your zip file put in eq file loaded no problem made clear into eq saw the new world.. even zoned a few times before i crashed... only problem i have now .. it seems they've wiped 2 out of 3 pass words for my accounts.. gahhh more problems.

Well, i only have 2 hours now till i can play EQ so im going to go to bed and let it run the rest of the night agian THANKS PEPPER!!!!!!! and btw to who ever that was about the law suit... im sending an email right now.

Thanks for the zipped files. I finall got past that patching screen. Now I only have 1.5 hours left until the rest of the files are downloaded. Damn dial up. LOL

at 11 am est aka 8 am pst this morning i got up all flushed and ready to start downloading the new patches and what do i find but an innocuous lil msg from VI saying they were running a lil behind......
Ok i says to my self lets figure it is a bit crowded and give em say 2 to 3 hours once more at 2 pm i get all set and still the same msg now by this time i have tried to get thier website but of course me and 400,000 others are thinking the same thing so thier site is almost totaly impossible to load.
Again i give em a few more hours and again i am disapointed till at about 6 pm est i finaly get some movement only to have to stop the download and restart it when it hangs up on me......
it is now 3:04 am dec 5th est and i am still downloading the patches i hacve had to restart the patch process 12 times now every time i get a lil more of the patch done i figure ill be able to finaly get online again by time my copy of SOL arrives from amazon.com on thursday..... or maybe not if i then havwe to repatch more info we will see ..........

ok i finally get this crap downloaded and then gues what i get logged on and it boots me out and then guess what my friend tells me they're bringing all servers down at 1am PST and i cant get freakin logged in now, /rude verant!!

im a pc dumb *** too, I noticed the unzipped files from pepper came up as an icon on desktop, click and drag it over your original eq icon and it shouild work =)

Make sure you have winzip. If you dont go to www.winzip.com then let me know

If you do have winzip then double click the luclin patch that you just downloaded and click yes or continue through it until you hit where you are going to unzip it to then change that to your EQ driectoy
default is C:/programfiles/everquest
