World of Tanks Open Beta Scheduled for January 27

Wargaming.net has announced that the World of Tanks open beta is officially scheduled to go live on January 27. The company considered the closed beta to be a huge success. They recently posted:

"More than 260000 players took part in the closed beta fighting around 2 million battles and destroying 40 million vehicles with peak concurrent users number surpassing 20000 people. All the data and feedback received from beta-testers helped the developers detect and address important technical and gameplay issues inspiring the team to add new features and making the game one step closer to the final release."

During the open beta players will have a chance to test unique game modes and explore new maps and vehicles. For more information on World of Tanks and the open beta, check out the official site.

World of Tanks Beats Peak Concurrent User Record

Earlier this week, Wargaming.net announced that World of Tanks has surpassed one million registrations worldwide. Now it appears that the game has already hit another milestone. On Jan. 5, World of Tanks beat its peak concurrent user record when 74,536 users played on the same Russian server at the same time.

The global version of World of Tanks is still in closed beta, but it also reached a new peak concurrent user record of 16,070 players on Dec. 29, 2010.

To keep with the global theme, four additional language packs were just added to World of Tanks: French, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish.

World of Tanks Surpasses 1 Million Registrations

Wargaming.net announced today that World of Tanks has surpassed one million registrations worldwide. Considering the game reached 500,000 active players in November, it certainly seems that gamers are interesting in blowing stuff up as a tank. To handle the rush of players, the team will be adding more European servers to the lineup.

World of Tanks is currently in closed beta. we still have keys available for all ZAM free members if you'd like to try out the game.

World of Tanks Video Transforms Santa's Sleigh

Even World of Tanks is getting in the holiday spirit. In its new Christmas-themed video, Wargaming.net has tranformed Santa's sleigh and reindeer into an army of steel machinery. I'm not sure if "festive" is the right word, but it's certainly worth a look. Check out the video after the jump.

If you want more details on World of Tanks, watch episode 44 of the BFF Report. Mike B. aka Fony Forget gets to blow stuff up. 'Nuff said.

World of Tanks Reaches 500,000 Active Players

Despite the fact that World of Tanks is still in closed beta in the United States and Europe, the game has already reached 500,000 active players worldwide. According to an announcement that was just released by Wargaming.net, World of Tanks has 350,000 active players in Russia, where it was launched three months ago, and 150,000 active players in the US/EU closed beta. The press release also contains some interesting figures:

"The number of peak con-current users (PCCU) in Russia exceeded 43,000. In the West PCCU surpassed 10,000 players. On average each active gamer spends 3 hours and 20 minutes playing the game every day. 10 million battles have been fought since September."
