With Wrath of the Lich King right around the corner, now's as good a time as any to start planning out your talent path for your road to 80. Those players lucky enough to be in the beta have already had time to play around with the new talent trees firsthand, but now everyone can interact with the most current Blizzard calculator.
The official WotLK talent calculator was updated this morning, but Blizzard warns that all talent information is not finalized and is subject to change during the testing process.
If you want to discuss the talents of your class, check out our class forums .
Blizzard has changed their mind on reseting honor and bg tokens with the release of WotLK! PvPers and BG grinders all rejoice!
Think you have what it takes to complete in a World of Warcraft Battlegrounds tournament at BlizzCon? Then register here to test out your PvP skills. Or, if you'd rather, you can compete in the first-ever StarCraft II Community Tournament or Defense of the Ancients (based on Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne).
BlizzCon 2008 will be held from Oct. 10-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center. For those who can't attend, over 16 hours of crystal-clear high-definition coverage of the event will be offered through DIRECTV Pay Per View .
A thread in the official Wrath of the Lich King Beta Warrior Discussion forum has exploded with discussion from players and Blizzard poster Ghostcrawler as a long list of class questions are answered, and more questions are raised.
One question regarding the heavily random nature of the Arms tree garned an interesting response on the nature of WoW from Ghostcrawler:
"Overall we are not at all trying to minimize or reduce the random element in the game. The random element is one of the few things that distinguishes an RPG from a game of "pure skill" like an FPS. We don't want it to swamp the element of skill, but I don't think it does. With some exceptions (and discounting for abuse), the players with the highest arena ratings really are very good players. Despite the randomness of the game, they still do rise to the top. The guilds who get instances on farm (moreso than the ones who get first kills) usually really do understand the encounter and class mechanics in play. TLDR: we're not really trying to get randomness out of WoW."
While every gamer's preferences are different, it's safe to say that most players spend a majority of their time questing in World of Warcraft. Most people will quest for either the lore, the gear, the gold, or simply the experience points, but when Wrath of the Lich King hits stores on Nov. 13, there will be another reason: the Loremaster achievements.
In this thread on the Official Wrath of the Lich King Beta forum, players were discussing the difficulty of clearing the large amount of old world quests required for the Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms achievements. In response, Blizzard poster Tigole shared today the decreased numbers that will most likely be implemented in two beta builds from now.
In total, the Alliance requirement will drop by 75 quests, while the Horde requirement will be lowered by 45 quests. Keep reading for more details.
According to Blizzard , Worldwide Invitational '08 and BlizzCon '07 beta code registrations will no longer be accepted for the Wrath of the Lich King beta. Thankfully, the unique pets that go along with this deal can still be obtained.
"Those that still have unused cards will be able to use their code to claim their pet if they have not already done so.
Future beta registrations will be opened after the week of Nov. 13."
So there is a new update to the upcoiming honor changes we have found. Per Eyonix, due to honor being wiped and whatnot, there are some upgrades and special rewards coming in the next patch to offset this change to the PvP system. Read on for more details.
The beta servers have just went down and Tigole has posted a quick "patch notes" that have been posted off the top of his head.
Here it is again folks, the time honored tradition of drinking virtual beer and wine from kegs in game until your character falls off of a very high place to his or her death, typically accompanied by the sounds of clapping and cheers as your friends watch you hurtle earthwards.
