Star Wars Galaxies Bonus Weekend Begins Feb. 25

Sony Online Entertainment plans to kick off a bonus weekend in Star Wars Galaxies tomorrow, Feb. 25, at 4 a.m. PST. This event gives a little more than just bonus exp; it gives players a little bit of everything. Here are the details straight from the announcement:

"This weekend players will get Double XP, Double GCW Points, Double GCW Tokens from Battlefields and City Invasions, Double Chronicles XP, Double Chronicles Silver Tokens and an increased chance to earn Gold Chronicles Tokens."

The bonus weekend ends on Tuesday, March 2 at 4 a.m. PST, so be sure to log in over the next few days if you'd like to take advantage of the event.

Next Star Wars Galaxies TCG Set Coming in March

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the next Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card game expansion, Threat of the Conqueror, is scheduled to launch in March. The set introduces a 10-scenario story arc surrounding the Conqueror, the Empire's newly outfitted Star Destroyer capable of demolishing entire planets.

Star Wars Galaxies players will want to keep an eye out for more than 20 new special forces-themed loot cards, including the Neutral Infiltrator Armor set and the first ever AT-PT Walker and Republic Gunship player vehicles. You can read more about the expansion after the jump.

2 Mounts, Player House Added to SWG Collection

Sony Online Entertainment just gave Star Wars Galaxies players a few more reasons to purchase The Complete Online Adventures Premium Plus Pack. Players will now receive two additional exclusive mounts and an exclusive player house when they purchase the pack, which is currently on sale for 50% off through Feb. 22.

The pack contains the original Star Wars Galaxies game and all of the expansions. Purchasing the pack will now give you a Mustafarian Underground Bunker player house, a Varactyl mount, and a Lava Flea mount. These new gifts will be granted in addition to the personal AT-RT, Queen Amidala transport ship and General Grievous Wheel Bike that were previously being offered with the pack.

Producer Discusses Ewok Festival, Update 16

Tony "Teesquared" Tyson has published his producer's note for February, and he takes a moment to announce that the Ewok Festival of Love will return to Star Wars Galaxies from Feb. 9 to March 2. Be sure to participate if you'd like to earn rewards like wings, a costume, a miniature chocolate fountain, and a Crossbow of Love that decreases an enemy's hate toward the player who uses it.

Tyson also gives us a sneak peek at what players can expect to see in Update 16. Nym's Theme Park will get a revamp, top senate and community issues will be addressed, and many changes will be made in space. Keep reading after the jump for more details.

Return to Star Wars Galaxies for Free this Month

Beginning today, Sony Online Entertainment is inviting former Star Wars Galaxies players to return and try out the game for free until March 1. The promotion is being offered in conjunction with the recent launch of the Galactic Civil War update.

Your account will be automatically reactivated, so all you need to do is log into Star Wars Galaxies this month to see all the changes that have been implemented since you left. You can read more about the update on the official Galactic Civil War page.

Update 15: Galactic Civil War Launches

UPDATE: In order to recruit more players to participate in the war, returning players can play Star Wars Galaxies for free from Feb. 1 to March 1. More details can be found on the Galactic Civil War page.

Today marks the launch of Update 15: Galactic Civil War in Star Wars Galaxies. The patch features massive invasion/siege warfare scenarios in Bestine, Dearic and Keren, and dynamic changes will occur in these cities based on which faction is currently in control.

Galactic Civil War Coming to Test Servers

Producer Tony "Teesquared" Tyson has made a call to all Star Wars Galaxies players to join the dev team on the test servers and try out the upcoming Galactic Civil War update. "We'll be testing the city invasion system. City locations and faction sides will be announced at the start," Tyson said.

The events will be held on Jan. 7, 8, 11 and 12 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. CST. Information on how to access the Star Wars Galaxies test servers can be found in this thread on the official forums.

SOE Launches Star Wars Galaxies Facebook Page

Sony Online Entertainment has launched a new Star Wars Galaxies Facebook page that already has more than 2,000 fans. "Big things are coming in 2010 and we’ll be highlighting all of them here," Producer Tony "Teesquared" Tyson said in numerous posts on the page.

Tyson also said that becoming a fan "might just be rewarding," so it's safe to say that SOE will be hosting contests and other events through the Facebook page. The team recently published a happy holidays video on the page, so check it out to put faces to some familiar forum handles. Also, enjoy Wookie Life Day until it ends on Jan. 12, 2010.

Producer's Note Gives Details on Update 15

Tony "Teesquared" Tyson has published his producer's note for December, and this one provides some information on the Galactic Civil War update and looks ahead at what we'll be seeing next in Star Wars Galaxies. Update 15 should be hitting the public test server soon and will introduce a city invastion system to the game that will be on a schedule and occur multiple times per day.

In addition, Wookie Life Day is coming very soon, and you can expect the team to host an in-game event next year in honor of the 30th anniversary of "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back." You can read Teesquared's letter after the jump.
