Runes of Magic Tops Two Million Users

Frogster announced today that Runes of Magic now has more than two million registered users in Europe and North America. The press release can be found after the jump. The open beta for the game kicked off on Dec. 15, 2008, followed by the MMO's official launch on March 19. Frogster stated back then that nearly 700,000 players registered to play Runes of Magic on launch day, which demonstrates how much the game has grown in a little more than six months.

"Chapter II: The Elven Prophecy" was just released on Sept. 15, which makes it a good time to try out this free-to-play MMO. If you play Runes of Magic, be sure to check out our wiki page.

Strategic 'Visdun Fortress' PvP Zone Added to RoM

Frogster has introduced a new PvP zone called "The Visdun Fortress" to Runes of Magic, and players must focus on strategy to defeat their opponents. Two teams of three players each take to the field to defend their fortresses. As far as offense is concerned, each team has the ability to summon monsters and enter melee combat in an attempt to destroy the opposing team's base.

The defensive mode offers a new level of stategy to Runes of Magic PvP as players can use five different towers to defend their fortress. For example, a lightning tower attacks five targets at once, while an ice tower slows down monsters. Players can choose where to place these towers and upgrade them up to 10 times.

We've added some "Visdun Fortress" screenshots to our gallery, so check them out to get a feel for the map. You can also watch this video of the PvP zone on the Runes of Magic Web site.
