WotLK Professions?Follow

I've been a miner/skinner my entire wow career. I have a few low-level(35 and below) toons that I've tried other professions on(enchanting/tailoring/alchemy/herbalism). I did great throughout Outlands, but it seems that in Wrath, the skinning doesn't seem to be getting the job done as much. It was great in the beginning, while leveling up I would get tons of leather and such, and the prices were pretty high(20g+ per stack), but now as an 80 I don't skin much except when farming for cooking, and when I do get some stacks, the prices have dropped terribly low (about 11-14g per stack). I've been pondering dropping skinning and starting something else, but I'm not sure what to do that brings in some gold.
I would prefer something low-maintenance(that's why i picked gathering skills) that doesn't require too much running around for mats(like some recipes need). I've made peace with the fact that I probably will lose money on the way skilling up, but I was wondering what goes well with mining that in WotLK is doing very well as a profession?
I was leaning towards JC mainly because the later titanium equipment is selling for several thousand a pop. There's also BS, but I'm not sure what direction to head for a holy pally.
Am I stuck with JC or BS or is there something else that compliments mining well that does pretty good in WotLK?

*Edit*
I forgot, my enchanter is lvl 275 and I have bags and bags of leftover dusts/crystals etc. Going to enchanting wouldn't be out of the question and a fairly easy lvl up.

You never mentioned what class you are playing, so its hard to say something that would net you armor (tailor, LW, BS). I am gonna assume that you are a plate class since you mentioned BS. This would certainly help you get some decent starter gear and the you only sockets are nice. Should be easy to level since you are a miner, you can get your own mats.

JC is another that would be simplish since you are a miner, and is beneficial to just about any class.

Enchanting is easy to level if you play the AH and only use what you need to level and sell the rest. You sound like you have some starter mats, which is good, and the ring echants are a nice little perk as well.

You have some good ideas, any could be beneficial. As far as money goes, BS isn't going to be a big money maker, but JC and enchanting can be.

Thanks for the input. Yes, I'm a lvl 80 Holy-Plate-Wearing-Paladin. I'm now starting to lean towards enchanting almost. While the lure of making several grand on a high-lvl JC sell is tempting, I already have the titanium spell eq that first drew me to the craft, so I wouldn't be doing it for me; I'd be in it entirely for $$. Enchanting I could use since I don't have any enchants on my equipment.
I think the deciding factor will be how one can profit at max level....ie JC can gather mats and sell crafted eq on AH....enchanting can sell DEd mats on AH (I'm not gonna be spamming the Trade channels LFW, only to give frees to lvl up)
I'm trying to read up on both professions now, but any input on current high-levels would be great.

If your primary goal is to make money, I would stick with skinning and mining. Yes, the price of leather has dropped. This is natural. When there were only a small percentage of players in the higher areas of Northrend, these mats were scarce. Now that the population of level 80s is increasing, the mats are more common. A price drop of 30-50% is expected at this point. Three to four weeks after WotLK came out, I was able to sell stacks of 20 saronite bars for 100g. Now I am lucky to get 50g.

I remember when almost no one was doing heroics yet, and frozen orbs were going for 150-200g each on my server. They now go for 30-50g each. Demand is still fairly high, but supply has increased a bunch.

If you aren't looking simply to make money, but are looking for a profession that will benefit you as a holy Paladin, I would say BS, JC, or Ench are probably your top 3 options. All of these are capable of making you extra money at the highest level, but are all dependent on how hard you want to work for the money.

I would still be reluctant to give up skinning if all you really want to do is make money. In instances/heroics/raids there are a ton of skinnable mobs and even bosses (Drak'Tharon Keep anyone) that will yield you piles of leather for very little effort as long as you make sure everyone loots everything so that you can skin it. If I am running something that I know has skinnable mobs and bosses, and I know I am running it with a skinner, I make sure to let everyone else know to loot everything and either vendor or destroy the trash so that the skinner gets maximum value for the run. The last time I ran H DTK with a skinner I think he got 7 Borean Leather just off of the big Dino Boss.

Mining/Enchanting can be a great money maker at the level cap since you aren't killing billions of innocent animals in order to level anymore. If you spend about an hour a day in the AH with auctioneer you can make a killing off buying stuff to DE and reposting the mats. Compare that to the time that you spend killing and skinning critters to make a comparable amount of money off leather and it is pretty much no contest. You will be giving up that extra crit from being a skinnner, but how much crit does a holy pally need? I imagine you still do dailies and such, so mining is good just to swoop in and grab those nodes that popup.

Just my two cents but I think Enchanting would be a great replacement for your skinning.
