OK, this ,ight be a stupid question, but can anyone take up enchanting? Dont want to give up my leatherworking, only to find I cant do it. lol

Anyone can take up enchanting. Blizzard has no restrictions for learning crafts.
Fishing, cooking, and first aid are secondary crafts and all players can have all these abilities.
Each character can also have 2 crafts, of which, you could choose enchanting.
