Apparently IGE now owns allakhazam. There were a LOT of threads posted about this, so I just grabbed one that was easier to read.

I saw that Sophus and been reading on it.
Its too bad they went and did something like this. They took a site that was well known for its anti-RMT and basically said wow, we don't care, we've got speed/money now.
Oh but we're seperate even though the parent company owns IGE.
Personally if I ran a site, I'd rather it go down then become owned by a RMT company. But then thats just me.

Yea, I was also reading on this. The people who think IGE doesn't own alla now are kidding themselves. The guy who owns IGE, Brock Pierce, created the "parent company" that alla now belongs to.(Or that is what I've gathered from what I've read so far anyway.)
He just sold IGE to himself under the new parent company's name so it would look like a parent company owned alla and not IGE. He deceived the hell out of Allakhazam from what I can see. IGE has been trying to buy out alla for some time now, and now it seems he finally figured out how.
I'm so damn sick of hearing about it now though. Everyone and their brother is freakin' posting "ZOMGZORZZ ALLA 1S TEH SELLOUTZ OMFG LETS G0 TO SOME OTHER FORUM!!!111!!one!!eleven!"
I wish people would shut the hell up and get over it. I mean some people are being so damn greedy as to the pics and info they have posted on here in the past. They keep demanding that the admins remove anything they've ever sent in. They don't give a shit about the people who actually use the info. They just don't want their info in sight of a gilseller, which is fucking stupid because this is already a public forum anyway and any gilseller can already read it. I really like this site, because is has the most useful info out of all the sites I've seen. Somepage and KI both suck.
If anyone knows of a more useful site than this, please tell me.

I like FFXIclopedia for info. And of course the usual suspects of Sompage, Mysterytour, KI, etc..
On a sidenote, there admins are under no contractual obligation to remove any pics/post/etc from their database. Once the users sent in their photos, they became property of allakhazam. Moral obligation, maybe. Contractual obligation, I don't believe so.

Allakhazam has no obligations to remove anything because technically all of the information and pictures that are posted here are actually owned by SE.
If SE said to take them down, then they would have to, but the people in the community that posted the info cannot force the admins here to remove it. They can require alla to remove his/her name from the pic/info, but all doesn't have to remove the actual information.

I am not sure there is really a better site. I visit a few of them (somepage, this one, couple others I've got bookmarked). Each site has its own advantages and disadvantages. In general they all fill in what the others are missing.
I think a lot of people are disappointed. I am in a way as well but I'm not going to throw a major hissy fit and say that I'm never coming back here again and I want all my stuff removed. (not that I've posted much in the way of updates, I always get to stuff after everyone else seem to)
Although I do miss the true love ads so far :) But thats just the perv in me.

the only good from this site is the fact that posts actually end up with the items/quests, which is where i get most of my info
however, somepage loads the items/monster/quest info much faster, but without posts
