Heya!
I go by the name of GoodCitizenDan, but my friends call me GC. I just joined the Shiva server and thought I'd make a post saying hi to everyone. I didn't see any forums on the official FFXI site, so this seemed like the best place.
I've been playing MMORPGs for a long time, and even played FFXI for a month or 2 right when it came out. For the last 2 years or so, I've been a senior officer and founding member in one of the longest running and most successful raiding guild on my server in Everquest 2.
Times change though, and people move on. In the last few months I had a few of my better friends in the guild leave the game, and I was just generally unhappy with the direction the game was taking. Hearing that FFXI just released an expansion, I decided to pick it up, and I've loved it. I'm pretty sure I'm here to stay.
I've met a couple people already, but I grabbed the xbox360 version and didn't have a keyboard that would plug into yet, so I haven't been able to talk much. Well, I fixed that, so now my lack of keyboard wont make people think I'm rude. Heh heh...
Right now I'm playing a Warrior until I get back into the groove. Once I get the hang of everything again and get a second version for my PC, I'll definately be switching to white mage at first, and maybe bard later.
Anyway, I just wanted to make my presence known. I'm really looking forward to some good times in this game.

Quick question for ya:
You say you played for a couple months during the initial launch, how do you like the XBOX 360 version?

Ya, I played FFXI for about 2 months, starting about a month after it came out. The xbox360 version seems ok. Its fun to play melee classes like Warriors and Thiefs with the joystick. The draw distance isn't that great, though, and I honestly expected the xbox to run at a higher texture resolution.
I think I'll be playing the PC version once I start leveling my WHM. Quickly shifting between party members and heal spells is alot easier with a keyboard/mouse setup, imo.
Heh, for the last few nights I've just been trying to farm enough crystals and other ingredients to sell for some basic gear. It seems the AH prices have inflated a little bit since I last played... LOL
