Pol Error 0020 Please help!!Follow

#1 Mar 10 2006 at 1:23 AM Rating: Default
This started happening to me around the 5th of March. One day all of a sudden i cant get past "Checking Viewer Version." I get Pol error 0020. I have spent over 6 hrs on the phone with my ISP, Linksys, PlayOnline and Playstation support. No one has an answer as to why after almost 2 yrs I can no longer log in. Everyone points their finger at the next company in line and pushes me off the phone. I bought a new Cat5 wire. Reconfigured my router. Plugged in directly to my modem. Ran my HDD start up disc and received no errors. Aside from throwing my F****** playstation onto a busy highway I have tried everything else.

Obviously I'm not the only one dealing with this issue. KI also has posts on the same thing happening with ps2 users. While speaking with my ISP provider in Arizona "Cox Communications" they stated that they had received SEVERAL calls in the past few days regarding online game play but that "It wasn't their problem. Call your game." BLAH BLAH BLAH! If you have any info please let me know.

Thx,
Pooks <3

i had this problem for nearly 6 months starting back about 3 years ago, and the problem was revealed that i had a crap modem that didnt take the change of port numbers that SE regularly does to well.

Most modem have a certain port number range in which they actually have these numbers they can use to get online with. U can call playonline back and ask them to help u reconfigure your modems port numbers, but i did it the easy way and just bought a new better modem. just tell me what kind of modem u have and i might be correct on this, i have a list of modem that i have labled as crap and should stay away from.

I thought that this was the problem but my stupid ISP that provided the PoS in the first place said it wasn't. My modem model is the Motorola SB4200. Should I just call them with the port #'s i need opened?

Thanks soo soo soo much for ur help! My vent channel can vouche for how irritating this has been, so your answer is greatly appreciated.

Thx <3

Edit: Damnit! Just reread your post. So my modem might not even contain the port # range needed to play FFxi now? That's fanfawkintastic! How much are modems these days anywhoey?

thats the same modem i have (and while they have their problems - i.e. i have to reset mine at least once a day) i don't have any FFXI specific problems with it. so i don't think it's your modem.

have you tried removing FFXI and reinstalling it? after the last update there was apparently a problem with the update failing half way through and a bit never got set that would allow you to continue past it.

i'm not sure how you would go about reinstalling FFXI on a PS2, but there has to be a way.

you might want to try that.

or just try resetting your modem (unplug all cables from it for 5 min, and then reconnect)

Yea Tyreck I have tried that whole disconnect and wait 5 min stuff. Still no go ; ; I also (like an impatient dumbass) completed deleted all of my Ffxi and POL files and tried to reinstall them. Unfortunately to install them again you must obtain an online connection to accept the terms and service agreement. I can't make this connection to even begin the reinstallation process. I'm going to try Starilae's idea tomorrow and get on the phone with Cox to see if they have blocked certain ports going to my modem. Wish me luck! lol I'm about to quit this damn game over this.
