700 accounts toasted, 300 billion in gil nuked, countermeasures introduced to prevent RMT. Good job SE. There are still RMT out there, but a bunch of the old ones are buried, and good f##king riddance.
In the War of SE vs. Gilsellers a mighty blow has been struck.
Some of those caught in the crossfires where people who didn't sell gil themselves, but where using the same credit cards, stand-alone or network PC, PS2, or LAN servers. Did these people help try to bring down the RMT .. nope. Did they know what was going on? A good chunk of them did, and have posted specific information on forums that idicates this. Do I feel pity for them .. nope. Knowing that SE was trying to shut down RMT operations, these people knew that the Gilsellers where being targeted. SE couldn't use laser guided missles to seperate friend from foe because they had fake addresses, used the same credit cards, same computers/servers, and no distinction could be made. So what did SE do? Dropped a nuke and obliterated them all. I take no pity for the casualties of this war. They knew the dangers they risked by being associated with RMT, and are now nothing but glowing husks of radiated waste.
If a RMT was on the same LAN as me, and I could locate the *******, oooooo they better watch out. I would stomp their teeth down their throats, get onto their accounts, and then report them to SE. Yes, I hate gilsellers that much.
Most people throw praise for SE's actions, and I am right their with them. Some people like Xellith and Afterglo want to whine and complain about SE. They believe that complaining about it can make a difference, but take no further action beyond b!tching. They are in the minority, and are the typical type of people who will find something to complain about when the end result is for the greater good.

RMT Countermeasures
Since the end of last year, item values have risen astronomically on all Worlds due to the manipulation of prices by a small percentage of the player base. The development team and the GMs carried out a detailed investigation of this problem, and discovered the existence of a group using illicit methods to produce large amounts of gil that are later sold in the real world (Real Money Trading). We would like to take this opportunity to outline the measures that have been taken to correct this issue.
Based on the results of --->this<--- investigation, more than 700 accounts among those found to be involved in large-scale RMT operations have been terminated. We will continue to monitor accounts suspected of dealing in gil created or obtained in an unfair manner.
Thanks to these measures, more than 300 billion gil has been removed from circulation, and the overly inflated prices of items have begun to fall to more realistic levels.
Furthermore, emergency maintenance has already been performed on all worlds for the purpose of implementing RMT countermeasures. This maintenance took place over two stages, starting on January 17th.
As has been previously stated, acts of RMT will not be tolerated in FINAL FANTASY XI, and any violations of the user agreement will be dealt with severely. We would like to assure our players that all efforts are being made to ensure a fair playing experience.
We hope to have your continuing understanding and cooperation in creating a Vana'diel that everyone can enjoy.

now i dont know about you but that up there means that they found out ppl were DUPING gil, producing gil through illicit(i know its a hard word but it means illegal/not permitted) means, and farming hnms and camp spots daily is borderline illicit but its nothing new and hardly a worry in the past of SE.
if you think that ppl were duping gil they wouldnt need to farm it and therefore the accounts that were terminated were NOT gilfarmers sorry to burst your bubble. these ppl did not take your camps or jack your tree cuttings...they just drove up prices of most items by introducing billions and billions of "fake" gil.
if you dont believe me thats fine, i know many gilfarmers/gilsellers that camp money 24/7 and guess what...they are STILL there today.
so please stop acting all emotional like its the second coming of jesus and relaying your whole life ethics and other military cool guy stories no one cares about.
i mean it sucks to lose an argument, but i guess it sucks more to lose an argument when you didnt know what you were talking about in the first place
