Ok i got al lthe items to make a HQ staff but i can't for the life of me find a woodworker with 100+ woodworking.

I had founf one, but he said ohh i'll make any NQ you want free, but i won't make HQ staff for you, it takes away from crafters Profits....

I near wanted to throw my key board.....

I can understand them wanting to make a profit. but i'm a crafter as well. If somone asks me to make soemthing i jsut craft it and on i go.

anyway long story short... Does anyone know a woodworking 100++ crafter?

Try the sticky http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=56;mid=1129209403108799974;num=57;page=1

Those in yellow say they are for free those in green have a fee. Talk to them and see if they will do it for ya. Many will not HQ for free it is how most crafters make a real profit.

Good Luck

HQ staves is one of the big money makers in Woodworking. I can understand where the crafter is coming from. Not only does he lose a possible sale to you by HQing your item but it is entirely possible that by doing so people will drive up the prices on ingredients hoping to piggy-back on the crafters skill causing him to lose even more profit.

I recently read a thread where someone was complaining about a 103 crafter wanting to charge him if the synth was HQ'd. The guy thought this was idiocy because he was bringing all the ingredients for the synth and the crafter had no risk in the synth.

In this case the elemental bead cannot be crafted by anyone except a high level goldsmith which probably means the item was purchased off the auction house. Who buys elemental beads? High level goldsmiths and high level woodworkers are the only ones that can even use them in a synth. Goldsmithers have no need to buy them as they can buy the ore and synth themselves, saving up to 100k at a time. This leads me to believe that woodworkers are the only ones that would buy the elemental beads from the AH. By doing so you are directly competing with the person you are having synth your staff.

To look at it another way:

Elemental staves are a level 75 synth. Percentages of HQ follow this pattern I believe:

10% HQ at 11 over
25% HQ at 31 over
50% HQ at 51 over

As this is a 75 synth in order to hit 25% HQ rate you need to be a 106 woodworker. 100 + 2 gear + 1 furnishing + 3 advanced support = 106. Woot it's possible! This says nothing for knowing what moon and day to craft one.

Now do yourself a favor and look at what it takes to go from 99-100 in woodworking. Granted that is probably the hardest level in the craft as you throw quite a bit of money down the toilet but after doing so I would say they deserve to have a little something for it.

I'm also curious as to what level and craft you are. Most people that I've seen say similar things have 1-2 crafts under level 30 and many serious crafters have most if not all of their sub crafts capped at 60.

That was pretty much what I expected. Woodworking was not difficult to take all the way into the 60's and bonecraft worked well with it into the 30's if I remember correctly.

Crafting for free is all well and good until you have someone come to you with 10+ stacks of arrowheads/fletchings/crystals and the want you to make the lumber then the arrows. After being nice and doing something like that (omfg that took forever) you will start to understand why I don't craft for someone else unless it happens to be an item they can't find elsewhere (IE: some things people just don't make often and never show on the AH)

I was once asked to make, I think yagudo fletchings back in the day. It was for a friend to lvl WW(and lvl rng or something) so I did it but ya... Across two seperate occassions I turned a total of 13 stacks of wind crystals and way to many feathers into fletchings. HQed quite a few so he didnt need to make all that many but that wasnt exactly a quick thing to do. Had a similar request later by someone at random (part of that Crafting Apron: hidden Effect ;) ) charged for that. These days, it would cost quite a bit more simply because of the time.

For HQ my stance is I will charge a smill extra fee if I HQ it, would never charge it all if you brought ALL the mats.

As for repeatedly trying for an HQ, have not had anyone ask me that yet so cant say for. But it would depend on what the synth is, its value, how common it is to make and what the chances of HQ are. I doubt I would ever refuse but it certainly would not be free. Getting to 100/60/60/etc wasnt free so there is no reason others should be able to mooch off of it.
