I don't think I can ever really see myself deleting my character or giving all my stuff away.

So I'm not.

The card I used to finance my FFXI subscription expires this month. I have already renewed the card, but I don't think I'll renew the subscription.

I have enjoyed my time on this game, but the "infinite well of entertainment" it used to provide has all but evaporated. Seeing as how I cannot play it on campus anyway, and at the time I'm home I can't get anything accomplished, I have nothing left on FFXI. Everything I must do now takes days or weeks of play time, and I simply don't have that.

It pains me to see the things I am leaving unfinished. I never experienced the thrill of a Sozu drop (go to hell you little ****) or the pleasure of Full AF2. However, I have grown. I now have a meager social life (not much, but something). I am exceeding well in college. My dreams are coming true, and I have made it through the rough parts I have had to face in my life.

It also hurts me to leave my friends. I would have quit the game long ago if I did not have so many good friends on the server, whom I played with from start to finish. However many of those friends have long since left the game. It is now my time to follow them.

So, I'm retiring at least for the time being. I am simply going to not renew my subscription. If SE has a mind-blowing alteration to the game before the 3-month period of my character limbo ends, I'll return. If not, then Shaolinz will fade away as one great and powerful memory.

I have had alot of fun here. I hope all of you guys will stay in touch. Just because I'm leaving the game doesn't mean I'm leaving the forums >_>.

It's been an honor.

Actually, I'm very disappointed with the expansion. No problems have been fixed from what I can tell. All they've done is added new soon-to-be-gilsellered NMs, soon-to-be-biased quests and soon-to-be-gimp Jobs. In fairness, I am reading up on the expansion daily to see if any solutions are introduced to the game's current problems. I am being an opptomistic skeptic though.

I'll just add this..."If SE was perfect they wouldn't be making games..."

Shao. =( Remember me? *hughug* Didn't think so, hehe. I stopped playing quite a few months ago.. heh. Glad to see you're finally coming with me, meh!? You should come play WoW with me sometime, all I do is PvP, it's so much fun. =) E-mail me sometime or something, I miss my Shaozerbaozermczaosternaoster. =D

Yo Shao, I think you should get the expansion a try when it comes out. You might like it. Sucks to put all that hard work into a character to give it up because it's not "perfect". No job is perfect.

How could I forget teh Sawwaz? Jeez I missed you where you been? I'm already way ahead of you on the WoW thing... level 26 rogue. It's great because it doesn't require alot of time to get things done (which is what I don't have alot of now).

Bar, I will read up on the expansion but I will not buy it unless something uber comes along. There are currently too many major economic problems in FFXI that really need to be addressed. It's good to keep things hard to get (like WoW) but not impossible (like FFXI).

No matter if you hate WoW or not, you have to admit that the economy is much better managed. The game has been out for one year now, and has probably deflated opposed to inflated. It's a very good thing.

No, I agree with you Shao. On FFXI, **** can be damn near impossible to get. I remember when I got my O.Hat, before that I could NEVER imagine getting together with 18 ppl to get that. It was a random group and ppl left as they got theirs ><. When I got mine, we only had 11 ppl.

Stuff on FFXI is very hard to get. I don't mind it being hard, but I don't want to need 3 alliances to get an item just for me. I'd rather having a bunch of solo quests or something.

I'm sure that WoW is fun. I hear that THF on WoW is much better than THF on FFXI. Everything takes longer and is harder to do on FFXI, now the economy has gone to **** to put the cherry on top.
I don't know if SE plans on doing something about that, but I don't think that they will make things any easier. They want you to spend all your time on the game. Your time = their money. Don't expect that to change.

Wish I coulda actually met you on the server Bar. Don't think I ever saw you outside of this forum. Today is the day my card expires and is the day I "officially" quit FFXI. There's always a year for redemption, but like I said... if no improvements are made, I won't be coming back.

I've not turned into a "FFXI must die" WoW member. I'm just playing WoW instead of FFXI now. It's alot more fun to me, plus it's also available to play on campus. I can log on for the 45 minutes I have between classes, level up once or do a random quest and go off to class. I couldn't do that on FFXI, which is mainly why I can no longer play.

FFXI creates a second life for you while WoW is just a game. That's basically why I've left.

I wish I could have humped you too. I will if you come back.
Yeah, I can't think of anything on FFXI that you can do in under 2 hours...besides maybe a round of Ballista.

Hehe glad ya didn't forget. =D I ran out of time too which is why I kinda left FFXI (was actually a composite of things, really).. WoW you can play for a few minutes and accomplish something, FFXI I would have to set aside a few hours.. and being in college I didn't really have that kind of time. Not smashing FFXI, because I did have a lot of fun with it and I made lots of great friends (THAT I MISS!! =(!!! ). I've been wanting to come back to FFXI just for my friends that I made, but I don't have the time.. And I also hear the economy has REALLY gone to hell. (BoPs and Bind on Equips in WoW kind of prevent huge economy influxes to a point.. making it so you have to run dungeons to get the gear you want).

Since I started playing WoW a few months back, in my off-time (and mostly during my month of winter vacation) I got my undead rogue to 60. >_>; I bet Shao made a night elf female, because it's all about the sexy, isn't it? ISN'T IT?! /dance.

And for the record, I'm not bashing anyone or anything. It's just preferences.

I miss all you guys! <3
