a Warlock is not a male witch, a male witch, is a witch. Warlock is scottish, and was used to denote those who'd betray their covens.

Warlock is male witch. Warlock was also a term from AD&D olden days as a title given to high level wizards.

Harry Potter pwns j00 all, so it really doesn't matter what a warlock is; either way its a pagan term used to refer to a male, right? The way I see it, both of your defintions have some truth in it, as a warlock is, as far as I know, a male witch, but I think I remember reading something about warlocks being a name for a traitor.

Well, as a member of the pagan community, and a male witch, I know for sure that the term warlock is not an acceptable thing to call anyone
.

As a solitary practicing Pagan, I choose the meaning of the name I was given by a friend. If you choose to take the meaning of warlock as evil, then please do so, but do not condemn me for your interpretation. Thank you.

Yeah, commonly the term warlock is used to denote male witch, but a true male witch (Wiccan) will never refer to himself as a warlock. I think warlock also carries a connotation of working for evil, even more so than "witch" might be thought of as evil.

A true male witch is free to call himself what he wishes. See above comments, thank you.

As with many things in life, words change meaning constantly. Icons are used for one purpose in one century and in the next conotate something entirely different.

If you choose to believe me evil, so be it. It doesn't change who I am or what I am. Good done in the name of evil is good. Evil done in the name of Good is still Evil. Good and evil both are required in this world for balance. I am what I am, and that's all that I am.

Actually in the late 80s early 90s there was a movie entitled Warlock. (think there was a sequel or two as well) and the "Warlock" was named so for being an Oathbreaker. He was also a servant of the devil and extremely psychotic as well as evil.

Bad means good. Wicked means awesome. Sick means cool. What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell the same. Judge not by a name or preconception, judge by actions.

Yay A religion discussion. ^^

Allow me to clear this up for you all. Anyone that has studied and practiced any form of Paganism (more so Wicca in this case) would know that a witch is a witch. Plain and simple, we do not nor have we ever made a distinction between male or female. And a title is nothing more than the title holder(s) make it out to be. Papa has chosen the title of "Warlock", personally I've always preferred "Witch". Either way we're both part of the same group so to speak, our chosen titles don't make us any different from each other in that respect. Please have enough respect to at least study up on the subject you're claiming to know so much about.

Couldn't have said it better as I prefer to judge people on their acts and deeds!

Have a great weekend all!

Fair enough, I had simply never met a Wiccan male who willingly referred to himself as a warlock - all the ones I've met (admitedly, not very many) insisted on being called witches.

Anyway, Fem is right - Friday...Happy Hour! I've stayed up too late playing this week Im gonna be ready to pass out after 2 martinis. >.<

Look at it like this as well, PapaWitch doesn't exactly strike fear into the hearts of goblins and gods.

L'il goblinette: Look mama! It's papawitch! Is it Christmas already?

PapaWarlock is much more fear inspiring.

L'il godlet: Run MAMA! RUN!!! It's PapaWarlock! Run to the hills!

And this is why the world is like it is. You are entitled to your beliefs, and I am entitled to mine.

Now that's quotable.

I believe in the unknown. Hell, we as humans are still learning crap about ourselves. We know nothing of what is beyond.

This is not a recruiting thread, but more of a small rant thread. I am sick of hearing from other shells how we live in Sky and that is the only reason we kill so many Gods. This assumption is far from the truth and I am posting this link to show how much we farm for what we actually get.

http://www.waspls.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=910

I have also heard how we only kill things because we have so many members, which is also BS.

- Killed MG with 8 people and only 1 Blm.
- Killed Zip with 7 People.
- Killed Kirin with quite a few people there, but Krugerwill and Mossy tanked him for over half the fight together without dying and with minimals deaths (even on his 2hr he only got our Smn).

Link is dead, but I'm wondering how many times did you wipe to Kirin without help from other LS?

Hell there Mr. Anon flamer.

If this link was dead why did you not leave it dead?

In reply to your ignorant flames we wiped to Kirin our 1st 2 tries. We had 30 people or less each attempt with only a coule melee 73+. We have gone on to kill him 9 out of 11 tries now winning without needing help from any other shell.

As far as I know every NA LS except YC anf DVS have wiped to Kirin atleast 1 time. So why do you not show who you really are and elt all these other shells know you are flaming them as well?

I actually don't know of any NA LS on Shiva that has wiped to Kirin, except Wasp. But I can't confirm that all of them have not. I just haven't heard of them doing so.
