I do think that it was a bit extreme to contact all the bidders. If it was on the Shiva server, maybe it'd be ok, but on another server...I don't know.

No, it wasnt extreme to contact the potential buyers...since the item was being sold on our server.

Oh, it was on Shiva? Then that's a good thing that you did.

I remember when I first started this game years ago, seeing people selling accounts on eBay. The funniest thing was the "money making secret for FFXI" that someone was selling. For about $5, some guy was trying to sell quest info lol.

why not make an insane tax on items sold for over a mil and in every city. when i say insane i say INSANE. or somthing along the lines like that. trying to find all the gil sellers or ban them all will never happen. like hand sanitizer, its only 99.99% of all germs and that .01% will become a super germ.

It wasn't right what was going on but daaaaamn don't fault the seller for trying to make a few hundred bucks on it.

it wasnt right what was going on, but dont fault the seller? thats like saying, "it wasnt right what Hitler was doing, but dont fault him for tryin to get rid of some Jews and take over germany."

wrong is wrong. is someone is doing something that is wrong, you can fault them on whatever grounds they are doing it, no matter the reason.

My gut feeling is, if IGE were based in the U.S., Europe, or Japan, they'd be crushed by the Sony legal juggernaut.

hmm, correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt Sony only be able to take action if the seller owned/played this game on PS2? or is FFXI also a sony produced game? cuz i thought i heard something alon the lines of sony breaking from SE when they went to Microsoft

Just no. Not even close. At all.

Good catch Mszcliccc. It does look like Square-Enix holds all the IP for Final Fantasy XI. Replace "Sony" with "Square-Enix."

(And perhaps replaced "crushed" with "attacked" and juggernaut with "rabid armadillo")
